Needlework Monday - Yay I’m Knitting!!! 😃

Hello my lovely crafters and viewers!!!! Welcome to another #NeedleworkMonday! If you haven’t seen it yet @crystalize made a wonderful invitation post for our special day. You can view her post Here. I found @crystalize’s blog and fell in love with her handmade Victorian style lampshades. I immediately invited her to join us for #NeedleworkMonday and she responded promptly with “I’m in, I’ll see you on Monday’s! It didn’t end there though. A couple of days later she reached out to me and told me she upvoted and followed everyone that had shared the previous Monday. Then she told me to let her know what she can do to help bring more crafters to share on Monday. I told her if she comes across posts that involves a needle craft she could invite them. She then spent a couple of nights inviting lots and lots of crafters to join in and she received several confirmations that some would be joining. Later that evening I saw her open-invitation post which was lovely done and I was so thrilled to see her jump right in and help spread the word. So I say thank you again @crystalize for all of the work you put into this already. It takes awhile going through posts finding crafters to invite but with this kind of help it makes it a lot easier ;)

Today I wanted to share the knitting work that I started. We have a few that share their knit work on Monday’s and I have been truly inspired to learn. I already had size 50 US knitting needles from when I made this Broomstick Lace Scarf. I also had plenty of bulky yarn on hand so I decided to give it a go with what I had.

Here is my cast on. I watched several YouTube videos to see the different ways people were doing this. I wanted to find an easier one that I could follow along with and understand. I wanted to make sure I started my stitches out tight and neat since I was using a bulky yarn, I didn’t want it to look sloppy in the end.

As I was doing the first row I started to memorize the steps towards the end and found a rhythm to what I was doing. I was anxious to keep going to see where this would go.

At this point I began to realize something. I already knew how to knit. I have done a few arm knitted scarves and the broomstick lace scarf required a few knitting techniques. So as I was moving along I start putting everything together and I was smooth sailing. I am going to get smaller needles soon so that I can practice with regular sized yarn.

This is how far I got before I finished for the night. I am going to try to make this into an infinity neck warmer. We’ll see how it goes and if I don’t get frustrated and start on something else lol. So all my knitting friends you tell me what you think. Does it look like knitting? I feel my stitches should be straighter but I figured it was because of the bulky yarn. 🤷🏽‍♀️
