The Emperor Does Have Shoes - But They Were Made in a Sweatshop.. Fake 'Designer' Shoe Shop Sells Cheap 'Payless' Shoes To 'Social Media Influencers' For 1800% Markup.. They Vapidly Gush About The 'High Quality'...

in #news5 years ago (edited)

Much of our 'culture' is little more than consumption and denial driven exploitation of limited thinkers - unfortunately. Even more unfortunately, so many have been spiritually and psychologically 'limited' by schooling and normalised exploitation that these groups can collectively hold enough resources to set 'trends' and even be claimed to 'speak for a generation'.. Every now and again the lid gets taken off and we sniff - genius!

'Palessi' is a shoe brand and designer shop that was recently opened - holding and exciting launch event to which social media 'influencers' were invited to give their judgements. Clearly from the footage, most if not all of them claimed that the shoes were the high quality and 'clearly worth $400-800 per pair'.. Only one problem.. The shoes were actually bargain basement 'payless' shoes that were set into an expensive looking shop background - deceiving the 'experts' and 'trendsetters' into believing the image and not knowing the reality.

I don't really need to say any more - except to re-mind all that there are starving people in the millions on our planet and yet significant NUMBers of people are invested in such things as this.

Wishing you well,
Ura Soul

We are so hollow, I mean humans in general. I have never been wealthy but I do not understand why someone wouldspen hundreds or thousands on a purse just because it has a brand stamp, of course there are still pieces of craftmanship but it is less often the case. And do not misunderstand me I do not want to underpay someones work either. On instagram I am often offered clothing sometimes, I never accept if it is not in my spirit or style and only known small designers I know work hard. I do not write reviews just mention if I actually like it or wear it. As for myself I hate going shopping, everchanging fashion trends. I am very particular as I like elven daily wear thus I recycle and upcycle a lot, thrift sometimes, even redye old clothing and repurpose. I still wear skirts that have been with me 20 years . We consume too much and we classify people or items by money.
There was a similar experiment of a gallery exposing toddlers paintings as if contemporary art, posh people trying to analize the intention of the authors in every random splatter was hilarious.

The competitive mindset and associated imprints that are based in lack of self acceptance - these are the origins of most of our challenges. The same dysfunctions that lead nations to hoard and attack others are the those which also lead those with the most to image all kinds of ways they can create fantasies that they are 'better' than other people - plus ways that those other people can find this out. :/

I agree
And I guess sometimes it is ok to be a misfit, It has to be very tiring to live always by others expectations of you.
We trade what we think of ourselves for what others do, and deny our own free will to chose who we are.

Misfit it is, not that bad. I like that freedom.

If we were all meant to be the same then there would be only one person :)

This is some funny and interesting stuff.
They walked right into it.
Not funny in terms of the big picture, of course.

The problem in our consumerist world is that there is differences in quality, however, price is not a good indicator thereof.

Case in point. Ikea has some very excellent products, that are the best i have ever seen... for really cheap prices. But, it is not true of all their products.

You go to Homey Depot and get the "contractor grade" tools... because, maybe they will last more than one job.

We have far superior metals today and so your cheep set of socket wrenches are pretty good. But they are no where near the Craftsman tools you could buy 30 years ago. You can also pay a shit ton more for Snap-on... for basically the same Craftsman tool you bought 30 years ago.

Now, about women's apparel. Most of these expensive shoes aren't worn very often. Quality doesn't matter. Looks and price tag are all that matter.

It is why jewellery stores commonly have 1000% markups.

Women feel good about having dollars spent on them. The amount of dollars is what makes them feel good.

I have only seen a handful of women who would rather have a down payment on a house instead of that (overpriced) engagement/wedding ring.

When people are so empty inside that they trick themselves into thinking that they feel 'good' in response to having resources used for/on/by them for basically nothing - that could have been used to feed and help destitute people.. We have a major issue.
The same gap of heartlessness that the homeless woman suffers with - is the same that the empty 'rich' woman suffers from - they just experience it from different ends and have different experiences as a result (with the poor end tending to be brutally and savagely more harsh in most cases).

Oh that is just GOLD!!!!!
