The Singing Flower - STILL-LIFE BODEGON Contest by @nTOPAZ

in #ntopaz5 years ago (edited)

ntopaz-image-0Hello everyone! This is my first entry for the STILL-LIFE BODEGON Contest by @nTOPAZ!

This photo was taken at a farmstead my family and I visited awhile back. As we were walking through this flower sang out to me. Everything seemed to be still as I gazed at it’s beauty. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to capture a shot that was so full of life.

To emphasize the essence of its beauty I decided to highlight the blossomed flower by blackening out it’s surroundings. We can find so much beauty and wonder in the littlest things if we just take the time to look.

I used our Cannon EOS Rebel T6 which is an entry level camera. My husband and I have been learning to use it for the past two years and I’m lovin it! We look forward to upgrading one day but for now we just want to keep learning the basics and improve on our techniques. If you are considering diving into the world of photography I recommend this camera as a good starter ;)

I first edited the photo in Lightroom. I aimed for a sharpened crisp finish with exaggerated vibrance. Sometimes a photo doesn’t capture the full reality of an object. I try to edit my photos to put you exactly where I was standing, seeing what I saw as if you were there in the moment. I then used the ColorPop app to make the background monochrome accenting the focal point of the flower.

I hope this simple beauty puts a smile on your face today! 😃

Thank You for another great contest @nTOPAZ! If you want to submit your still life shots (up to 3 total) you have until July 24th! Please make sure to read all of the rules before posting your entries! You can read more about the contest by visiting here...https://www.ntopaz.com/contest/62

Hi @crosheille Beautiful picture! =) I like the contrast!

I invite you to check the examples in the announcement of the contest, so that your second entry is more associated with the theme:

Bodegon, a still life photograph, is an artistic composition of several inanimate objects. Still life photographs can be represented with immobile natural materials, such as flowers, seeds, fruits and shells. Or use everyday elements made by man, such as kitchen utensils, work tools or ornaments. Crayons, pencils, paints and 3D objects can be used to create good artistic drawings manually. Thank you so much @smeralda! I have reread the contest and checked out more examples. I think when I saw the word flowers it threw me off but I now understand the objects have to be inanimate. Thanks for the heads up I appreciate it. My next entry should fit the theme more ;)

I’m glad you liked the contrast ~

It made me smile cause I really love flowers and this is a very pretty one :)

I’m glad it made you smile! Thank you :)

It is looking very beautiful, good idea to make a contrast between b&w and colour:)

Thank you so much! I hope my next entry meets the theme better, I think I understand it better now :D
