Portugese Man-O-War on the beach
Not much of a story-- I used to live in South Florida for 20 years. The beaches are a major draw of course. We don't have many jelly fish, but we do get a bunch of these guys - Portugese Man-O-War... They're like Jellyfish, except instead of swimming around, they just float, and sting their prey as it swims through their tentacles.
There's the occasional swarm of baby Man-O-War, which don't float as much.... aren't as noticeable, so you just come out of the water with a bunch of stings on you..... And then there's what you see here, they wash up on the shore.
Enjoy the photo. And... If you see one of these on the beach, don't step on it!
Oh! It's a great photo, I really like that texture it has, it's like jelly. The colors are so vivid, is it beautiful and dangerous? hmmmm you have to be afraid of him, how good that I live far from the beaches [that bad at the same time]. The marine creatures are very beautiful and you can find really strange and dangerous species but at the same time they are wonderful.
You had a good approach with him / her, I agree with you, if I had taken the picture, it would be my favorite too.

I don't have a favorite- because that changes on my mood... but ... this is definitely one of my most beloved. As far as fear- nah... I"m not allergic to these guys, so... even if I got stung- it's just irritation- a little swelling... I've definitely done dumber things for a photograph (hopefully I can find my motorcycle stunts photography... that was REALLY dangerous and dumb... and fun :) )

It's nice, so peculiar, bumping into the water with one of those little animals should be scary :v
Bumping into anything that you can't see... in the water... is kind of scary... If you touch their top, nothing major happens- just feels like a bag touched you.... the tentacles-- they feel kind of creepy-- and depending on the sting level, it can hurt. I'm not too allergic, so, it was always more of an ouch... followed by a bit of an itch.... nothing too crazy though.

Nah... though... there is a funny story of when me and a girlfriend were visiting Florida in 2008 (2 years after I left) - and she got stung... she runs out of the water "You've gotta pee on my leg!" - I told her to have the lifeguard pee on her leg, since he won't get arrested for indecent exposure. He actually had a spray bottle of ammonia, which is what neutralizes the venom.
Hehe, I am sure that was a more satisfactory result than him getting his wang out and doing the job!
Well... I don't know about more satisfactory... Certainly more sanitary / legal. Either way, a good laugh.
