Daily Vlog #22: Why the Devil Is Trying to Get Me to Post On Youtube

in #openmic6 years ago (edited)

First off thanks dtube for the update, everything seems to be running much smoother now, In fact so smooth I really think @luzcypher should reconsider the rules on dtube videos for the #openmic competition. It's true you still can't embed videos but you could still easily share the link. The exclusion of dtube videos for openmic seems to go against what steemit is all about, decentralization. It is true you can upload to dtube if you also upload to YouTube. However a YouTube or perhaps Vimeo upload is still required. So it isn’t exactly a ban as I had said previously, sorry about that... but I still won’t be uploading anything to YouTube. I’m sorry if this post upset anyone that was never the intention.

I won't be posting any videos on youtube for the next few months at least and so won't be entering in anymore openmic as dtube videos are ignored. I was excited to be part of that community of musicians on steemit and to push myself to create multi instrumental videos. but so it goes. I love dtube so much I'd rather just make video content exclusively for dtube.

the background music is just a little thing I recorded from my eurorack synth let me know if you want me to upload it separately to dsound, otherwise it will probably just remain as background music.

I am almost to 400 followers so thank you all so much for that! this is an amazing journey and I am glad to have you all on board with me. If you would like to help support creatives and musicians like me, the best way to do that right now is through delegating steempower. I made a video earlier on how to do it so make sure to check that post out if you don't know yet. And while I wouldn't mind some sp delegated to me I am more specifically talking about @dtube and @dsound. They have made a huge difference in my growth on steemit, I don't think I would be coming up on 400 followers if it wasn't for them!

Thanks again everyone
~Noah

ps. take everything I say with a grain of salt and with some humor, I'm still a total newb and could be wrong about things. While I am serious that I won't be participating in openmic because I don't want to use youtube for the moment, the rest of this video is supposed to be somewhat humorous.

hey man, I'm fairly new on steemit and been using this site for about a week, I'm finding it the people and content to be very interesting. music/ art/comedy and expressing are what I'm all about and I thought I would get in contact as I liked your channel. keep up the good work bro look forward to more of your posts.

I appreciate your comments especially after recent YT censorship. That said I can also see how having to click through links for hundreds of videos would make openmic insanely more difficult for the judges. I cant wait to use dtube exclusively, but openmic and other opportunities present the platform with challenges to get even better. Can't wait to see what's next!

I guess our opinions vary in the difficulty of clicking a link, but I see where your coming from.

YouTube is trash...

Greetings from Venezuela I follow you and vote

Gratz for getting to trending. 😁
Heres a screenshot for this weeks rules. I think they havent changed in these few days.
No need to boycot OpenMic. If you despise youtube i think Vimeo will do as well as other video hosting services that allow embeding.
The more musicians we have the better.
Hope to see you around. 👍

It's really interesting theory about youtube. I don't think you need start using that platform. d.tube is future. I tray the best what i can, but i dont make even 0.50$ You have 91$ peoples like you and what you do. Keep going for us.

Yea I may just post my openmics on dtube regardless of the fact that they won’t be included.

They will be included if you add a YouTube or Vimeo link as well

I will definitely look into a Vimeo account. I’m pissed at YouTube over their changes to monetization. It’s kind of silly but it hit right when I was planning on really pouring my energy into creating content for YouTube. That’s when I found steemit. It all kind of fell into place. But I do understand that posting a video to dtube doesn’t disqualify it from openmic.

Dtube is going to be a successful platform soon. And congrats for the 400 followers.

Thanks, yea I’m really excited to see where all this is going

welcome. wishing for your better success
