PALNET - As a Content Creator? (Long Post)

in #palnet5 years ago

Its 3:57 A.M.

The clock is ticking louder by the second as I sip on the last drop Blue Monster Energy Drink. The phone screen is now filled with Hot Cheetos crumbs. Life hasn't been the same ever since I started content creation.

There isn't a single content creator to revisit, not a single place to get inspiration from. Life looks bleak. My latest post is worth 0.17$ according to the community. Time to grab me some "feel good" vote from the community upvote at P.A.L. discord

ANNOUNCEMENT: The community upvote service will be closing shortly and changing to a new system to reward Palnet members, please read the Palnet whitepaper: https://steemit.com/minnowsupport/@minnowsupport/palcoin-whitepaper-by-the-minnow-support-project

-Shane, on the P.A.L. discord.

My eyes lighten up. "WHAT IS THIS?". I click on the link and swiftly skim through all the discord groups I am in.

PALNET.IO

PALNET.IO

PALNET.IO!!

Everywhere, everyone is talking about it. I do not understand what is going on. Is it a new interface? Is it a new chain? Is it a new dapp? I have tokens to claim? How do I get onboard?
I throw my phone away and wash up. I rip away all my dirty clothes and throw all the piling garbage away in the bin. I rush to put on my suit and sprint to my headquarters, my work PC. On the way I accidentally step on my phone cracking it's screen. "It doesn't matter!". Suddenly I am at steem-engine claiming PAL tokens and browsing through palnet.io...

It's...it's that same. It is another clone of steemit. A new weku...

Wait...why are the tokens on steem-engine, then? Why is proportional to SP? Did I even read the whitepaper? There is so much to learn.

The soul inside me awakens. I feel alive again. A ray of hope emerges as I read through the posts. THIS IS IT!

Putting the semi-fictional story aside,
let's look at this from my perspective. A content creator's perspective.

I do consider myself as a developing content creator on the blockchain. Reason being; I focus on creating the best content I can and put effort into it. My entire thing on the blockchain is content creation, apart from learning about the ins and outs of the blockchain, economics and finding ways I can be a bigger part of the chain - may it be through curation or community involvement.
I have never powered down, nor worried too much about the price. Heck, I haven't even cashed out anything, nor do I put so much thought into the tokens we have on steem-engine.(pssst, I am working on diversifying and getting involved with the above mentioned more now).
Arguably, all this puts me in a bad position and is probably not even letting me reap the best fruits of being a content creator. That is why I have started investing more into diversifying. But still, at core, I am a content creator. Never blacklisted, whitelisted in many places, curate and interact a lot, don't involve myself with bid-bots, among top 500 payouts yadi yada.

So,
WHAT IS PALNET.IO TO A CONTENT CREATOR?

I am huge advocate for expansion, and the brand new palnet.io serves us exactly that. Not only is it webbed within the STEEM blockchain, but it also gives us a fresh platform to work on and ear.
This is the first mega "W" for us content creators. We can now earn both stee/sbd/sp as well as PAL...without parting ways with our beloved STEEM blockchain.

We already have a lot on our plates, from quality to contents of our products. Hence, ease and accessibility have become our best friend. Knowing that I do not have to worry about registering, KYC, waiting for approval or learning anything new and just buy adding #palnet I am now a part of both PAL and other front ends makes me happy. It does put a smile on my face.

Additionally, we do not have to start from zero. We already have some resources proportional to our steem stake to help us get a boost. This gives me some room so as not to feel bound or limited.

Oh wait, we actually might have to start from zero. MA BAD BRUH. Frankly speaking, the first look at palnet.io was pretty underwhelming. After reading about how things wouldn't be the same - namely how whales have been put to sleep (temporarily IMO), bidbots won't be playing the game (for a while IMO), and the Trending,Hot pages would be more organic to let "real" content flourish came off of as bullpoo. I immediately saw names I recognized from steemit.com lurking on the highlights on palnet.io.
BUT
that isn't the real case. It does, in fact, look more organic for now. It took me sometime to understand that it's just the first day and things will be like this until we gain a bigger crowd. I do not hate the tech and crypto nerd talk, but I don't want them shoved down my throat either.
I do believe that over time as more users arrive we will see different sorts of contents being appreciated and highlighted to bring the community together again and flourish as content based platform. I hope I am not let down.
As a matter of fact within the last 38 hours I have noticed an increase in different niches under the highlighted tabs.

Is that all? No! Overtime we have gotten better at our crafts and gained a following that love and support us for what we create. We have a following that appreciates the end-products we create for them. On steemit and other frontends they do help us out with their support, how much of it will translate to success on palnet? We have to keep in mind that not many are on here and not many will be. No stakes will mean no matter how much one supports you, it won't matter on pal. Time to create a new following on here I guess. I can't say I don't loveit. Actually, I'll say I love it. That directly. I'd love to have other people notice my work and appreciate it.

Palnet.io also lets us, content creators, test the waters. With the upcoming HF where the proposed 50/50 and separate downvote pool is in discussion, we can test it out personally and get a feel of whether we like it or not. In case you don't like it and it the propsed changes are implemented at least we will be much prepared. Also, we already earnin dem paltokens boiiiiii

Remember how I said that content creators love ease and accessibility? The whitepaper does mention upcoming visual developments. I would love to see if it can match or overtake what steempeak has done. To me, steemit has the worst UI and steempeak has the best - both visually and in features. I would like to see what palnet has in plans.

There will also be changes to how we can use PAL tokens to further boost our posts, either by promoting or exchanging for votes. I see huge potential in that. Every content creator would love to utilize any tool to make their end-product feel more polished.

To conclude I would like to say to my fellow creators, keep creating and stake up as much as you can. Buy a few and stake them up too, since the recent dumping has made PAL tokens much more affordable. You will not regret it. Remember, expansion is good.

I love being a content creator and I do not have any plans to putting a halt to that. I will continue learning as the day passes, for it makes me who I am.

The comment section is open to all for critics, thoughts and discussion.

I agree with you 100%. I see a lot of potential in palnet.io... They (we) have a chance to repair mistakes from Steemit and speed up things... We have waited too long to things happen and developers of Palnet.io know that very well...

I see this as a railroad that splits in two ways... But, we have two trains going to the same station... The Moon... :)

Very true. I thought that steemit.inc would realize how their sluggishness costs everyone a huge break.
With the release of steem-engine due to continuous delays of SMTs we can now see the huge potential SMTs would have.

The train can split as much as it wants as long as it takes the entire blockchain with it to the moon ;)

Nothing here to disagree with! I think palnet is going in the right direction and I hope it accomplishes great things. I claimed mine and have staked them. It's just getting harder and harder to keep up with everything new that's happening.

Ah yes, it is getting harder. Just as I was getting the hang of palnet.io we have splintertalk now LOL

I believe that the appearance of PALNet is positive in all respects. It's positive for users who can increase their audiences and revenues on a new platform that doesn't force them to start from scratch. It's positive for communities for the same reasons and it's even positive for Steemit depends on how you see it.

The truth is that it is competition and as such will benefit us, will be effectively two different paths to the same goal, the curious thing is that you can travel both and that's great.

I am almost sure that they will do very well, the P.A.L. team has done real wonders for the platform and has carried out very good and efficient projects. PALNet aims to be one of them. I agree with you very much.

Greetings, Peace!

You really managed to sum up everything I said in 3 paragraphs. I look up to master brevity like you.

I do love competition and experiments, it is always healthy and beneficial. Perspective plays a crucial role here, and I can already see a lot of people with a lot of negative speculations - which I appreciate since it gives me something to think about.

I agree, PAL has done amazing so far and I have no doubts they will always bring a complete, appreciable product for us to enjoy.

Thank you for stopping by.
