Instead of abolishing the death penalty outright, the legislators could've consider upping the criteria of the crimes that mandate the capital punishment.
Also, provide more time and recourse for convicts to conduct and appeal, either to prove their innocence or appeal for a lighter sentence.
Malaysia is one of the country in the world with the most brutal punishment for criminals. Besides hanging, caning is also part of the punishment too. But it still doesn't deter these criminals from taking the risks to go against the law. Caning is already harsh enough, I don't think these criminals will want to experience it again. So, thats why I think the Death Penalty should be abolished. Sometimes people makes mistakes and they wanted to repent. To punish them with death is just too much.
