Since the Steem blockchain became a centralized, top-down dominated place, where control and censorship thrive, I have decided to move my content. Don't worry, though, all my posts and up and doing well on the decentralized Hive blockchain. Come and check it out!

I really liked that futuristic thought, "getting reaxy for the next great disruption". There is even a pattern to the cycle of those, no?

I believe so, and we are all part of it.

Perhaps the difference between humanity and other species is that sense of self-awareness.... perhaps because we can imagine both a future where we exist or don’t exist it places sovereignty back into our hands.

Great commentary on this topic.

sovereignty is the right word. However, at the same time, with great power comes great responsibility: for ourselves, for each other, and everything else around us. And it's not easy juggling both in a way that works well for all. For this reason it would be nice to share this burden with other humans.

A brilliant response. Very clear. I always like the thought of our demise - partly why I long for a zombie apocalypse - as I'm sure something better will arise in its place. For now though I'd also like to think we can stop throwing variables into natural order so there's LESS apparent chaos and more peace. As I quite like the sunrise, thanks very much.

Hahaha, when the idea of a zombie apocalypse is brought up, I like to point out the kids with their eyes glued to a screen, or people who buy truckloads of toilet paper whenever some Y2K-like event is mentioned in the media. Could it be that we already ARE in a zombie apocalypse?

Hey, @stortebeker.

Very interesting thoughts. There is a definite order to things, that I firmly believe. Whether there is chaos too, and how it is introduced, I'm still pondering on. Nature's disruptions many times come as imbalances, build ups over time that are essentially in need of a correction. Nature finds a way eventually.

With man, and the ability to reason, or not, I suppose we could say we upset that order to a degree. We are still bound by certain universal laws, and for some of those we've found workarounds, but others we're still conforming to. So, in some ways, our ability to affect change that isn't a part of the natural order of things, is fairly limited, while perhaps in others, we might upset things quite a bit.

Unless we consider man a part of the 'survival of the fittest' theory, where what he does isn't always directly related to survival, but to sport, to self-indulgence, to self-worth or self-pity. There's probably more to it than that, but anyway, man isn't just about survival.

How much we ultimately can affect the world around us and to what degree we can reverse is pretty hotly debated. One thing I do believe is that we are meant to be stewards of this Earth of some kind, and we could certainly as a whole do a much better job of it if we so desired. :)

I completely agree, especially with your last part. Sure, we are part of nature, and just like every other element is looking for an immediate advantage. That's just natural, everyone's doing that. But to be able to take a step back, make some well-thought-out plans in order to maintain balance as a steward of that land, now THAT is closer to the divine. And you are absolutely right: we could (and should!) do a better job at it.
