The 27 Club
The 27 Club
Recently I shared this post of the 911 Firefighter tribute memorial by Brazilian Artist Eduardo Kobra and mentioned I had found online that he had done a few other murals in the city recently and that I would be trying to visit as many of them as I could, and here is another one I headed to check out one morning last week.
Tagging @enginewitty at his request to see these types of art pieces

This mural consists of three pieces and this is the first one, and clearly is in Eduardo Kobras disctinctive style.
This piece is I believe called the 27 Club and featured in this one is Janis Joplin and Kurt Cobain
Do you know why this mural is called the 27 Club
If you do not know don't worry I will explain later in the post.

And hereis the second of the portions of this Mural and it features images of Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix.

And the final part of the Mural and the latest member of the 27 Club Amy Winehouse.
The 27 Club
The 27 club is a club no Musician ever plans on joining I am sure, but it is a name given to a group of influential musicians who died at the young age of 27.
This group includes those featured in these murals and are perhaps the most well-known members of the 27 Club
Others listed in some sites as members are Robert Johnson, Alan Wilson, Brian Jones, Fat Pat, Kristen Pfaff, Sean McCabe, Kin Jonghyun, Jeremy Micheal Ward, Mia Zapata, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Richey Edwards, Linda Jones, Fredo Santana, Peter Ham, Jesse Belvin, Dave Alexander, Dickie Pride, Chris Bell, Rudie Lewis, Pete De Freitas, Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, D. Boon, Kami, Which when you think about it like this is a heck of a lot of Musicians who all died too young.
And a couple of more shots to show the murals all together and show wher eit is located on a building wall on a small street.
As with many things in NYC getting photos of them can be a challenge in this case I could only get side on shots as there was a van parked in the way and of course the trees and rubbish.
Unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

@tattoodjay Great musicians at the height of their performances. Yes, we know the 27 Club and the shocks of their early departures. One can only wonder how they would have turned out at a much later stage in their lives'. Some great pictures here JJ and please remember to tag me when you post the Einstein one! Blessings!
Such a loss of talent in all their cases, and yes I will try and remember to tag you

Want to have your post on the map too?
The 27 Club is one of those that nobody plans on joining. Shocking, isn't it? All that amazing talent painted on those walls and at the height of their popularity.
Such an amazing feat, painting a mural of this size and using this method. The East Side will never be the same. Did you see his Michael Jackson one in the East Village?
I admire and am impressed with the small details that you share here about NYC. I am like you in the way that I could never see enough and spent countless hours after work, wandering the streets, curious to explore such a fascinating place.
Believe it or not, people that live there haven't seen half of what you have. I am serious!
Another amazing post, highlighting the big and small details of the city that never sleeps. Thank you for sharing this amazing piece of Street Art!
