What a beautifully done restoration @madlenfox with an interesting history. It looks like a wonderful place to take a walk in summer.

I'm not sure why it has to be closed in winter though. Especially as the statues have been replaced with polymer replicas. 😊

Sort:

@gillianpearce, fountains here for the winter are completely turned off, and the statues are Packed . High humidity and strong winds from the Neva. Swans go to their winter enclosures to winter in good conditions. This garden is right on the Bank of the Neva. From this climate, even marble and granite eventually turn into piles of pebbles. From April to may , the Park is cleaned after winter and dry well, are preparing for the summer season.

Do the swans make their own shelters @madlenfox? Or are they specially built for them?

Oh, they're so taken care of, I think people do everything for them. This large round pond in the photo is their habitat and they have feeders and cages and clean water in the pond . I think they're too spoiled. They do not need to do anything and just enjoy life
