Traditionally for #ThursdayGreen. - 📸- City stories
Hello to all those who are still here. Unfortunately, many users are posting less these days when Steem went down. I'm still here on Steemit, too. I read a lot these days and see that opinions and forecasts are too different. But I still hope for the best scenario for Steem. I want to see green graphs on an upward trajectory.
Today a quick glance for # Colorchallenge ThursdayGreen. These photos I took while walking through the Summer garden in St. Petersburg.
This Park ensemble was originally created as a summer Royal residence. Its construction was started in 1704 under the leadership of Emperor Peter the great. For the construction of this Park was allocated part of the island, which is now one of the Central areas of the city.
This Park is only available in summer, from May to September. In winter, all the fountains do not work and the statues are Packed in cases. In the cold season you can see only the famous lattice fence of the Summer garden.
In the Summer garden there are a lot of sculptures of Roman gods, emperors and allegorical statues.
Of course, these are not antique statues or even copies of ancient statues. Most of them date back to the beginning of the 18th century. For that era, they were a modern work of art. But well preserved to this day.
I saw these statues in their original in the Summer garden before the restoration, which took place not too long ago. Now they are on display in the Mikhailovsky castle. And what about the statues then we see now in the Summer garden?
It is believed that marble statues in our humid climate with sharp temperature changes can exist for about a hundred years. Then they begin to collapse from time and weather conditions. Those original statues have stood in this garden for 300 years. Therefore, during the recent restoration, it was decided to move them from the open space to the premises of the Mikhailovsky castle. In their place were installed copies of these sculptures, which are made of marble chips and polymer.
Initially, this green urban oasis was decorated with fountains, but in 1777 during a severe flood, they are all very badly damaged. Then Catherine II decided not to restore them. And after more than 200 years, we can see them again in all their beauty.
I hope that you liked my green Thursday and this walk through the Summer garden was interesting for you. I'll see you soon

I to an still here and hoping we see some green on the charts soon
Thank you, @tattoodjay ! This green is now our only salvation from the heat. We're still over 30 Celsius with our humidity and nighttime temperature changes. :)
Its about the same here, walking between buildings in the city is so draining, but I will take it over icy cold and snow
heh, no, I can't even think about the snow yet. We will have this period too long again. I don't want to rush his arrival :). Let is heat and bright sun. It's easier for me than winter frosts.
Another perspective with different shots, i remember the gate's shot but there a brand new photos for me here added to the storylines in this post. Beauty all over :)
Love the covered walkway. Sooo green. Perfect for Green Thursday! I'm still here with you @madlenfox Steem On!
The maximum concentration of people now in places like this - where a lot of greenery and water. Coolness and shelter from the hot days. Oh! I imagine how long I will remember this warm summer :). This is very rare :). Usually such a warm and Sunny weather nature gives us very little and portions, heh
Is good that some users still remain here, as well as You, @steven-patrick. Many probably wait for the moment when the situation normalizes. Sadly a little :(
Beautiful green photos @madlenfox!
Steemit is somewhat lonely place; it's been like that ever since I've joined in.
Nearly two years ago my friend was telling me about exciting place called Steemit but I did not understand, and waited and when I finally joined it was already too late.
In the beginning I was posting things but nobody ever stopped by, maybe one or two people, and then I stopped wasting my time.
In the meantime I shared some posts from others and it's been a week or two I've decided to give it a try again. ;)
However, you can't help the feeling it is not such a happy place any more.
Lots of spammers and very few still pushing forward.
It looks like "to be or not to be?" time. :(
Let's see.
Good luck to everyone involved in positive way. ☺
@maria444, thank you for your history and your opinion. Now many people I talk to have the same feelings. But it's too late to back down. We'll keep moving forward. These are really hard times, but I remember a good time here. Keep your spirits up. The main thing now in this period, when Steam is so low, to continue to blog and interact with those who are still here. From my experience, I can say that it is at such moments that many manage to become more visible here and gain new friends and followers. When the coin goes up, the people will return. Yes! So it has been more than once :). I wish You success :)
Thank you so much @madlenfox!
Hope your words will become true. ♥
what a beatuful and colorful pleace...very lovely!! those a re nice shades of green to my eyes!! Good shot...awesome photography :)
Thank You!
thanks for your support :)
What a beautifully done restoration @madlenfox with an interesting history. It looks like a wonderful place to take a walk in summer.
I'm not sure why it has to be closed in winter though. Especially as the statues have been replaced with polymer replicas. 😊
@gillianpearce, fountains here for the winter are completely turned off, and the statues are Packed . High humidity and strong winds from the Neva. Swans go to their winter enclosures to winter in good conditions. This garden is right on the Bank of the Neva. From this climate, even marble and granite eventually turn into piles of pebbles. From April to may , the Park is cleaned after winter and dry well, are preparing for the summer season.
Do the swans make their own shelters @madlenfox? Or are they specially built for them?
Oh, they're so taken care of, I think people do everything for them. This large round pond in the photo is their habitat and they have feeders and cages and clean water in the pond . I think they're too spoiled. They do not need to do anything and just enjoy life
