The magic of a Norwegian Spring!
Hello Everyone,
Today I finally got to experience something that I'd wanted to do for a long time!
I got to walk in my favorite forest during '' Hvitveis blomstringen!''
In english this flower is called European Wood Anemone and is one of the first true signs here in Norway that spring has arrived.
On the island where I am born and raised in Norway, Jeløya, we have some amazing forests with environmental protection. In these forests the anemone thrives and every year the forest floor is covered like a white blanket with these small, beautiful flowers!
It smells so nice and it's like the woods come to life in all it's glory after the long winters. My favorit forest is called ''Grønnli Skogen'' and is the forest that is most famous for having more of the wood anemone. I was so happy I didn't miss it, only coming to visit for a little over a week and also a bit lateer in the year than when the usual flowering happens.
I remember every year growing up we used to go down to this forest to pick the anemone to put on all the tables for my mums birthday which is in the middle of April. This year though the winter was especially har and long and it was only a couple of weeks ago that the last of the snow disappeared.
Spring in Norway really is my favorite time of the year! When those nice, sharp greens start to pop up evetywhere, you feel the warmth of the sun and the birds are singing like there is no tomorrow on every corner. Allready evenings are filled with light until around 10 at night and people are out working in their gardens in t-shirts and shorts.
Today was truly a magical day. As I was standing by this little lake in the middle of the woods all of the sudden a deer came running past me all quiet and majestic! It's one of those amazing gifts that you just have to appreciate and save in your inner treasure chest.
Another great thing about spring in Norway where I grew up is that all the little lambs that wonder around in the woods and on the fields! they are so playful and are always running around making lots of sounds!
To sum it up; I LOVE Spring!
Where are you from and what's your favorite place to spend spring?
I hope you enjoyed seeing a little bit of my favorite part of Norwegian spring and that you are all having a wonderful and creative day!
All photos are original and mine.
Awesome photos! That looks amazing
Thank you @drewley! :) Yes, it was wonderful! :)
What beautiful woods you have there @mayasky, and how tall trees are. Thank you for this walk, I almost could feel the scent of forest watching your photos. Looks like I need nature vitamin :)
My pleasure @jungwatercolor! So happy you liked the photos 😊 🌸 I really feel like my whole body and mind came to life again after all my first walks here in Norway, it's been such a long wait for the spring! I definitely needed some nature vitamins! ;)
Well, I believe the moment we come to place we were born, and if it's somehow connected with nature, feeling is overwhelming @matasky. Enjoy forest and walks. Looking forward for some new shots.
Absolutely @jungwatercolor! <3 So very true.. Thank you so much girl, I'll have some new shots for you soon ;)
Yeah those fine spring flowers. In German we call them poetically Buschwindröschen. How much I love them specially in the old beech forest. Here they are already gone and the trees are covered in fresh green.
Enjoy your time outside and get inspiration for your indoor activities.
Ah! Yes, @johano! I love these flowers :) These walks really fills you up with inspiration and vitamins for all the time spent inside, so true! It sound really wonderful with forests covered in fresh greens as well.. Here the trees are just about to burst! 😊☀
I love collecting Bärlauch (wild garlic) in the Spring and making pesto and strudel from it. It also makes for an excellent liver cleanse.
