I like feeding the birds in my garden, I’ve tried different things to try and keep the squirrels off but they are quite clever and they can’t half jump its not that I don’t like them but they will eat most of the food, my latest method is to grease the pole this seems to be working at the moment. I have had to put straps on my bird feeder with the peanuts. Without the straps, the squirrels and raccoons in the area will find a way to send the feeder crashing to the ground.
Squirrels and raccoons can be very clever when it comes to food, especially peanuts.
I only fill the bird feeder with peanuts once a week. Otherwise, like you said, all I am doing is feeding the squirrels and raccoons. I have even had possums eating peanuts out of the feeder.
