Fun in the garden today!

"Grumpy" (Thrush) sitting on the garden gate drying himself after a shower!

I know the doctors said I must rest at home, but this sitting around is surely getting to me! Winter in South Africa is a good time to trim the fence bushes and for a sparse watering of the garden. Normally whenever I work in the garden, the birds get into a playing mood and today was no exception.
Let me show you what the birds think about my efforts to neaten the garden!

The Loeries sat in the "Delicious Monster Tree" watching Grumpy shower and now here comes the first Loerie for a shower!

Wow! Look how nicely she plonks herself down under the garden sprayer!

And here is another Loerie sitting under the sprayer on the garden hose!

Oh! In case you ask, here is the last Loerie waiting for his turn to shower in the "Delicious Monster Tree". As you can see, I had to seriously trim the tree back, as it's fruits drip and leave ugly marks on the terracotta tiles below!

A lovely domestic scene and the Loerie is so happy with the fruit that his eyes are glazed over! Little Troy at the back is enjoying the sun!

And finally, everyone departed as it's winter here and the sun goes to sleep very early.

How nice it was to spend a whole day in the garden again. At my age it is folly to sit around and although I have a few tender muscles tonight, it showed me what can happen when one becomes inactive over a period of time. The past 3 weeks was a very difficult time for me, not only for the physical recouping, but also the side effects of the handful of tablets that I have to take every day!

But by grace I am slowly healing and although more health storms await, I simply set my sails to gather the wind of the spirit and onwards we go, moving mountains!

it would be nice to obey what the doctor said, so that your situation does not deteriorate

Thank you for the kind advice my friend, but and there's always a but, I am a highly active person and the sitting around is not good for my head. My thoughts drive me crazy whenever I am not active! Blessings!

hahaha you can not stay in place should always have activity, I suggest you visit my blog to increase your activity😁

I loved this post. You drew me right into your backyard! I love watching the birds in my backyard too, but they are different ones!

Thank you so much! I like to present my posts with an accompanying story line, be it motivational, educational, homely and so on. The shots that I like the most are the unexpected ones. Always thrilled when I download my camera on this PC to uncover an unexpected gem. What kind of birds do you have in your garden? Blessings! @dmcamera

Blessings to you from Florida! We have cardinals, chickadees, nuthatches, mourning doves, bluejays, finches, red headed woodpeckers, owls, and more! The bald eagles and ospreys, don't come to our yard, but we see them circling above, and we see the Canada geese flt by in formation too.

Wow! Sounds like a great collection! Do you have a zoom camera? I catch flying birds with my Canon Powershot, and it makes a big difference over long distances! Please forgive the late replies, as I am recovering from a blocked brain artery op but am getting better by the day! Blessings! @dmcamera

Blessings and prayers for a speedy recovery! I have a DSLR, and have a 100-400mm zoom lens, so can get quite close without actually being right there!

I thought of you on the way home this afternoon when I saw an anhinga enjoying himself in someone’s lawn sprinkler! I was in traffic, so could not stop to get the shot! 😊

Well, it's the thought that counts! Thank you for the blessing of the thought! @dmcamera

You are welcome, and I am always happy to send blessings any way I can!

@dmcamera, Btw, I had a look at the word "anhinga" and here in South Africa we call them Darter's. Blessings!

Oh, that's interesting. They swim half submerged in the water with just their necks sticking out!

You are just so talented with the camera even in the garden you still takes amazing shots. Great pics.

@giftedwords, thank you for the kind reply my friend! Blessings to you and yours!

Getting there slowly my friend and just like a car, when one thing packs up others follow! Not that I am complaining, but just a bit of advice for you! Please take care of yourself and beware of stress! Thank you once again for your kindness and care. @pennsif

Thank you for those wise words. I send all my good wishes your way.

Once we start complaining, you know you are on the mend even though it takes time, great to hear a murmur about sitting still.

My feeder is full of birds, not on the green side of the garden, so not a nice setting for photography. Always enjoy your daily share on life as it happens.

Getting better I certainly am Lady Joan, but the still business is sheer torture for me! Could you not perhaps focus on the feeder itself without including the dry surrounds? Thank you for enjoying my posts about life! Blessings! @joanstewart

Even though I am not always commenting, I think of you every day! Take care of yourself my dear friend! @tipu send 0.2 vote

Thank you so much for the kind support Lady Melinda and also for your thoughts! All blessings to you! I sincerely appreciate your friendship! @melinda010100
