Gathering the eclectic

in #photography6 years ago

Next to the field where my daughter and I kick the ball around there is a patch of thistles (I think) that the bees just love. I took the camera with me to play with some settings and reamed off a series of really quick shots. I don't have much time at the PC still but I cropped them down from 3:4 to 16:10 as I like the thinner format for Steem. I took quite a few shots however and I don't have time to process them properly but, I thought these ones were a little bit more interesting to look at than 'just a bee' doing its thing.

I have been trying to capture a clear picture of a bee in flight but I am struggling to get the settings right. Any advice is welcome. I am using a pretty slow lens and extension tubes which means I need to bump up the shutter and light but, I still want some detail. I like this shot a lot though.

I like seething the bees clambering around the flowers and when frozen in images, they can have some quite interesting poses. I know that people don't care but I have found it amazing at how fast some animals, birds, bugs are able to move their bodies with such precision. Humans are pretty useless when it comes to using our bodies, let alone quickly. We are just lucky we ended up with opposable thumbs and a brain to make tools to do things for us.

I also like this image of the bee just about to take flight as it appears to notice the camera at this point and looks indecisive. Perhaps she was thinking, 'should I sacrifice myself and sting that sucker?'

This one is just cute. Look at that bees' butt. I also find it interesting that when we capture images of animals on camera we grant them human characteristics like I did just before. We are able to see familiar human expressions in their eyes and extract human emotions from their body language and behaviours as if, we know what it is like to be a bee.

I think it would be interesting to see what was possible if humans were part of such a dedicated community though. Perhaps Hivemind will be an indicator, perhaps not but, I am really awaiting its arrival.

Bee's butt LOL. I can never look at a Bee again the same way LOL

In a beehive every Bee knows its job or place. Not so easy for us to many self interests

You are a 'pollen maximalist' :D

Yeah, I don't think it is possible and the larger the group, the less likely.

I remember you sharing that capturing bees in your camera is something that calms you down. I think from the pictures I can feel that. Obviously I don't understand it but still...........

A few interesting things that I noted - 'bee's butt'. Human characteristic indeed. I am a fan of butts and why the hell not. I mean I am not even sure what I'll sit on without it :-)

It is the concentration and focus required perhaps. Today was a little rushed though.

I am a butt fan also :)

I think that guys/fans of girly butts, this tendency is actually a natural thing for chaps from warm weather like us.

Anglo Saxons and all those Norse guys from those regions frozen up there are all about boobs. I suppose that even now being adults, they still can't forget that boobs was their only means of heating back in the day. LoL

It's not easy to capture a flying bees....You have done a creative work...
Weldone sir

I think that capturing flying animals with your camera is an extreme sport that is hard work

But I think you did a great job here I can detail the bees very well

Wow really all the photographs amazing! You have taken all the photographs nicely that's not easy to take.
Great work.

I think you did your best effort is not easy to take pictures of a bee are very fast like the mosquitoes

Upvote you .

Hi Taraz. The first one is close to catching a bee in flight. That is a pretty good effort as it shows the wings clearly. I suppose patience is key with this type of thing.
