Serendipity (An Original Poem)

in #poetry6 years ago (edited)

A world, still divided,
a place where
stillness is no longer
the order of the day.

We push love away,
while residual noise is
so coarsely broadcast
to numb our hearts,
and cloud our minds.

Now is the moment to
reconcile where we’ve been
and where it is we wish to go,

to develop a
deep sense of being,
that opens our emotional pores
to what life is trying to teach,

to seek out all
of those things that touch
our souls before
they can even think
to reach our minds.

Each second we
are confronted with
sublime beauty
in this stream
of great ugliness,

we must only
stop swimming to
come to know the ways
in which it glistens.

Listen and you will realize
life is a question
with no binary answer,
and like a lonely dancer,
it’s trying, desperately,
to engage us quietly
with nothing but
the sparkle in its eyes...
serendipity.

Nice poem. Very creative :)

A hunter for treasure has sailed from our shores on a fanciful frigate of might
and set off to find hidden gems of a poetic nature 'neath cover of night.
Just this morning we heard, oe'r the roar of the waves, that a poem to curate's in sight!
Well, this poem in question is yours, so this writ from the shores of the Isle of Write
is announcing deposit of five SBDs in your wallet: we hope that's all right.
Our anthology's filled with the poems of Steemit; black ink on its pages of white:
and if yours is included we're sure of the loudest applause that your words will incite!
We beseech you to navigate now to the Isle, making haste as a bird soars in flight.
As you traverse the ocean you'll see our tall palms; from your vessel, please safely alight.
@treasurehunter” you'll type to inform us you're here and your ship is all moor'd nice and tight.
Then as soon as we can, we will ping you to answer your questions both mammoth and trite,
and a verification of willingness we will procure with a flourishing rite
saying you will allow us to publish your “pome” in this tome of the Isle of Write!
(Be assured that, as author, you will be retaining your full and complete copyright.)

I have been under the weather for a couple days and missed this when it hit the platform. Stanza # 2, is a exceptional read in and of itself, people can learn one whole life lesson in that stanza. Thanks for caring enough for others to teach through your writings.
Have a wonderful & safe Christmas season.
Until next time,
@sultnpapper

Hey @sultnpapper! I hope you're feeling better. It's a bad time of the year for sickness. I wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas! Thanks for all of your support this year.

I am back to normal now Eric, thanks. With God's blessings I wish you and your family a safe and Merry Christmas. Let's make 2018 even a better year than 2017, success for HF series is just around the corner.

good post and interesting

Serendipity. Wow, sometimes life is extraordinary. I had my step-sons little ones for the weekend, so my time on here was sparse, but I happened to run across @onceuponatime's photo post and decided to comment on it. He commented back along the lines of 'life is full of serendipity and synchronicity, to which I responded those were my two favorite words. I decide to come to your blog and see what you've been up to....
He also posted me an Eddie vedder song, a boy dylan cover, to which I countered another cover--and ah the serendipity as I really feel that it complements this poem beautifully

I'm going to read Doug's post now, I saw in the first line that he had just dropped you off at the airport. I am sure that you had a magical time and I hope that it carries with you through the holidays :)

Thank you @dreemit! The universe is so amazing isn't it? Sometimes those serendipitous moments give me the chills. We had so many instances of serendipity during my short visit it was unbelievable, many of them we haven't talked about yet. Thanks for sharing that video...what an awesome rendition of that song! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!

very good choice of words...

"Listen and you will realize
life is a question
with no binary answer,
and like a lonely dancer,
it’s trying, desperately,
to engage us quietly
with nothing but
the sparkle in its eyes...
serendipity."

love this stanza

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

This poem is especially relevant now that we're reaching a time in the year (Christmas, Diwali, Hannukah etc...) where love has to take priority.

The ugly stream of consumism is here, but the kois of love are the true beauty of the Holiday.

Thanks for the lovely poem, here's a Koi on a Christmas tree :)

Thanks, @spiritualmax! We were near a shopping mall today and it was crazy how crowded it was! What an awesome decoration for the tree!
