Deja Vu
last time we were here you told me
was my very last chance to hold you
when the sun rose it would burn our dreams to ash
yet here we are again
standing in the same place
dancing the same dance
over and over we rewind the time to this
last chance to say never say never
repeat it again do it over
last chance to pray the final rites
no matter how you change it
it stays the same
we’ve been here before
remember how you fell up to the sky
and ran away backward reaching for me
remember when i melted and swallowed your name
climbing up from the lowest ledge
when i searched for you but you hadn’t yet came to be
i remember what you never were
how we never met
living through a phase of infinity
last chance to say never say never
repeat it again do it over
unbuild the bridge we should have crossed twice
circling around the drain
no matter how you change it
it stays the same
we’ve been here before
