EU Moves to Establish a 'Ministry of Truth' Through a 'Russian Threat' Smokescreen

The EU is amplifying it's information war by targeting Russia in a new recommendation recently passed. The European Union is increasing funding to EU’s East StratCom Task Force to take on the tasks of a 'Ministry of Truth'.

The East StratCom Task Force is a EU body focused on so-called proactive communication of EU policies and activities in the Eastern neighbourhood (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine) and beyond (Russia and further).

The justification is to combat the *"misinformation, disinformation and propaganda targeting the EU and its neighbours". Specifically, it's looking at Russia as the one allegedly targeting Europe with "misinformation, disinformation and propaganda". Under the passed document, the East StratCom Task Force and two subdivisions will get:

..."adequate financial and personnel resources which are still required, aimed at the significant increase of their potential, effectiveness, professionalism, institutional continuity and quality of work, as well as safeguarding them against political meddling by officials and countries that back Russian disinformation." - [Tackling hybrid warfare, paragraph (y)]

Member states are being called upon to join the effort. Specifically, "to ensure that electoral laws take into account possible threats stemming from disinformation campaigns". Suggestions also include to support "independent and diverse Russian-language media in the countries of the Eastern Partnership and beyond" and "to focus on the EU accession countries and partners in the EU neighborhood by assisting them in their efforts to counteract hostile propaganda and disinformation activities."

This is reminiscent of the hype for the now debunked 'Russia-gate' scare that spread after the 2016 electoral failure of the Clinton dynasty. It's been suggested by some insiders that Hillary and her inner-circle decided to spread the lie as soon as they lost the election as a way to possibly overturn the electoral decision, or at the least muddy Trump for a loss in th next election.

For months the claim was that Russia meddled in the U.S. election with hackers and bots to undermine the decision making of Americans on platforms like Facebook through 'fake news' information. But it turns out that the ones doing the manipulating with bots was mostly American political ideologues who were pushing the leftist agenda.

Now the EU is pushing for the same narrative, picking up from the mainstream media narrative. The insinuation is that Russ carries out disinformation campaigns and cyber attacks against Europe to increase tension with it's EU neighbors and mess with the political relationships within and without.

The EU is incrementing processes to push towards political and media control, a totalitarian Ministry of Truth, like in Orwell's 1984. Freedom of speech is dangerous to them, and they want to use this narrative as a way to cement their control of information. Freedom of speech needs to be controlled and abandoned to win the information war. Don't let anyone be exposed to information that contradicts your authoritarian narrative.

Anything deemed to be disloyal to the EU establishment narrative is automatically "RUssian propaganda", and these new laws to combat the fabricated threat are the way to control the information and establish a Ministry of Truth. Those who act against the doctrine of the EU will simply be Russian agents.

TO get the laws passed, they don't even provide examples to prove their case. It's all innuendo and made-up beliefs the inculcate and induce a worldview to be accepted. Then resistance to what's happening will be diminished, as people think there is a "real need" for something to be done.

If you defend the Assad government and Russian position on the fake news chemical attack in Douma in 2018, created by the Western-backed White Helmets, then you're a dissident to the Western propaganda and doctrine. Countering the push of an official narrative will be seen as a threat to the Ministry of Truth.

Truth, freedom and other higher values will fade away as the loyalty to the party becomes most important.

It's not just the West, but Russia is also on the prowl to crack down on freedom of speech and citizen's rights, pushing for more state propaganda in order to combat the threat posed by the 'West'. Governments everywhere exploit real or imagined threats in order to secure and amplify their own power and control. State propaganda will increase to enable exploiters to grow off the exploited. When the gulf between the two is large enough, will the exploited wake up and do something about it, or will they be cemented into bondage and let it remain that way?
