SomethingAboutMe - Proud of my country
For this week SAM hosted by my friend @bluemoon, I would like to share with you something special. Today, 1st of December, it's Romania's 100 years anniversary.
I could write so much about my country...about its tumultuous history and its amazing people. About the amazing artists or the great Romanian scientists. Instead I will tell you why I'm proud to be Romanian.
Romania is a beautiful country. I love nature and my country has plenty to offer. Its wild side and untamed beauty never cease to amaze me.
When it comes of arts, the Romanian artists appease my thirst of culture. In fact, I will share one of my favourite songs played by our amazing singer, Maria Tanase.
I love the Romanian traditions and customs. And more important, I love how our people stick together in joy or sorrow.

Congratulations on anniversary! Nice to have a passion for your country, I understand from here that you are not tempted to go elsewhere, as it is now used in Romania.
No, I'm not tempted to move away from my beautiful mountains. I know life is hard but I'm not ready to give up.
Sure, I would love to visit other countries but just on holidays. Every place has its beauty and charm but nowhere is like home. 🙂
Few think like you, especially among young people. Unfortunately, not many have ever lived in Bukovina.
Bukovina or a different area, our country is equally beautiful. Where else can you find a place with all the possible landforms?
I believe if all Romanians loved their country, Romania would be much better. Hopefully things will change. It's up to us to teach our kids what patriotism is. 🙂
I hope you do not mind ... I have a slightly moderate patriotism. I can answer to your question very easily, especially since I saw with my eyes ... Bulgaria! It is next to us and I think Bulgarians are more patriotic than us because they are more serious about what they are doing. There are many prejudices in Romania about them but I think they are unjustified. If I had enough money, I would buy a small holiday home in Balchik. You can ask our friend @nelinoeva if I'm right!
Having a slightly moderate patriotism it's what you choose. Why would I mind? 🙂
But let me tell you something. You gave as an example Bulgaria (and I totally agree with you, they are wonderful people). Have you ever thought that maybe they are way ahead us due to their patriotic sense? Maybe if we follow their example, things would be far more better for us. Just saying... 🙂
Yeah, it's a discussion here and I don't think we'll get out of it. I think every one brings a lot of arguments, it's a matter of choice ...
Patriotism has been so often used, for the sake of manipulation, in the military, in the church ... the politics that many times I don't know if they are my choices or they have been induced by school, parents, society.
I chose to stand slightly aside ... but I don't think I managed.
About the Bulgarians. They're more serious and hardworking ... I don't know if it comes from patriotism.
If it's from patriotism, then it's an inward and natural patriotism, not declared or induced. I think so, but maybe I started kicking the plains! Ha, ha ...

Maria Tanase was our most important singer. Her powerful voice made her an icon of the musical culture in Romania. I totally recommend listening to her songs.
Her style reminds me of Edith Piaf, who I love listening to. I will listen to her, thanks for introducing me to her. Sometimes I wonder how I have made it this far in life and there are still so many things that I do not know!

I'm always saying that learning is a continuous process and we will never be able to say we know everything. 🙂
