CHALLENGE: SHARE YOUR MOVIE (# 01) - MEMORIES OF A CHILDHOOD - ...!

in #shareyourmovie5 years ago

Hi all. How's everything? Today I share one of the movies that made my childhood. This post is inspired by @wiseagent's contest and I encourage you all to try it, out or at least the next edition since the deadline for this one is right about now.

Not so Easy

When thinking of the movie that made my childhood, several do come to mind. If this was a top ten then a couple classics such as The Lion King, Dennis The Menace, Baby's Day Out, etc would surely make the cut. But, since only one can make it to the top, I'll have to go with "The Gods Must be Crazy!" The first one.... Or the second.

Honestly the whole collection is legendary but the first 2 movies are just out of this World. I'll mostly talk about the first one, and only share extracts of the second.

The Gods Must be Crazy I:

Although the details are flimsy, I remember that the first time I watched this movie was in the 90s, putting me under 8 years old. I also remember that the catchprase of one of the main characters had practically become the family's catchprase. "Ayayayayayay"(Give or take a few yayays depending on the situation.) We all loved using it, specially my dad.

Plot:

Straight from my limited recollection, here's a summary of the overall plot. The plot starts when a coke bottle is thrown from a plane and falls to hit a bushman that had been going on about his business with his friend.

Conflicted and astounded, they take the bottle back to their village where they try to figure out what it is and where it came from. It is later on decided that it was sent by the gods, that it is probably evil, which then leads our protagonist to set on a journey to find the gods and return their item.

There is also a secondary plot. It involves a ranger being in charge of picking up, and taking care of a foreign female who had volunteered to travel and teach the kids in one of the villages. He's supposed to take her to said village. Brace yourself, a lot of hilarity ensues and both plots are nicely interwoven.

So much so that over the years we watched that tape a few dozen times. Alone or with family, with relatives or with friends, you name it. That casette sure had made it's rounds in the city.

Anywhos, check out these extracts:

I won't really talk about this one but just know it's just as good as it's prequel, and that if you need your feels hit real hard, then this movie is your culprit.

Anyways, I'll stop here. If you haven't seen these movies you should give them a try. You won't regret it.

The best part is, these are some of the rare movies people of all ages and from all sorts of backgrounds can enjoy. I should know, specially considering how back then my siblings and I mostly preferred cartoons, and that the content my parents were into wasn't our cup of tea yet TGMBC always did the trick for all of us. Yes indeed, I'm quite certain these were some of the rare films for which none of us had to fake interest. lol

I haven't watched any of them in over 15 years and maybe one of these days I'll correct that. But until next time;

PEACE!!

Niiiiiice. The lion king is a classic. I actualy also almost went with it as my pick but decided not to coz someone had already used it and I'd already done a post about it in the past.

Also, sounds like your daughter is doing epic moves, kudos to her! And cheers for the resteem too!

Never let yourself stop doing something. If you like to review the Lion King do so! Different people, different oppinions and writing styles.
