Quite brilliant @oscarina. I like your story better than the quote from Borges. I am a great admirer of his work, but your piece has heart at its essence, and this I do not see in Borges's words. You capture an individual tragedy, and the loss that each of us must face in some way as life ebbs. You do it with feeling, so that the reader visits the woman's past and also sinks with her as her faculties fade.
In the end I ask myself, what is a person's worth? Does it erode when outward appearance and ability decline? Or are we more than the sum of those parts?
