My Greatest Sports Movie of all time
Ok, this is a hard call. I'm supposed to write about the sports movie I like the most and I started trying to "objectively choose" the best quality sports movie I have ever seen. Then I realized that I will fail if I stick to objectively think about sports movies, there are really good ones with nice plots, superb actors, and all the other stuff that makes a great movie. But at the end of the road, it all simplifies to the sports movie about the sport I love since I can relate to the story of the main character a lot.

This movie is about a young Mexican immigrant whose dream was to become a professional football player. The movie shows us the humble starts of this character and how he succeeds in achieving his dream.

So as an immigrant, it all begins with the protagonist difficulties for making a living in the US alongside his family. He has a day job and a night job which siphons out all his time.

But somehow he still manages to spend some time playing football in amateur leagues. In one of such amateur matches, he is seen by a scout from a British professional team.

The scout is just stunned by his skills and ask him if he wants to go to England to try his luck in some training sessions with the Newcastle United (the British pro team).

The decision he has to make is quite troublesome since his family relies a lot on his job's income and somehow his father thinks that he is just pursuing a mirage.

He finally chooses to go on pursuing his dream and that's when the movie starts telling the history of a man on his way of becoming a football superstar.
The movie also has a lot of drama, it shows us the difficulties of a humble man who out of a sudden becomes a celebrity and starts having troubles with the people he used to be around with. He falls in love, encounter hardships, he overcomes difficulties and keeps pushing forward.

I really liked this movie, any person who has tried to become a professional football player can relate to this movie. I recommend it to any football fan out there.

Sports movies! We don't see very many of those being discussed here on Blue Baikal, so this is very refreshing to read @joelsegovia. I definitely agree that it's hard to objectively choose a good sports movie when in fact, it depends on what sport the audience likes. Are you a big soccer fan? Thank you for your support... I do am a soccer fan, actually I even practiced it in a professional level for a few months. But having to work for making a leaving prevented me from continue to do so, not all of us get as lucky as the movie protagonist :)
