I just saw a post from them in my feed today. Maybe they are back on? I share your concerns, but if they broke the law I'm not sure the ramifications. I mean if someone was posting child porn on here I sure hope they would be shut down. Right? Decentralized yes, but there has to be a line somewhere. Was it here I don't think so. But steemit has been doing many things I don't like recently.

Of course, there should be the means to control bad face content but also to easily recover your invested money or the instructions to do it.

If you were browsing on Partiko then you would have been able to see the account - as noted above, the account was not somehow removed from the Steem blockchain, all that happened was one particular website (Steemit.com) has prevented the account from showing u p on that particular website. Partiko is not steemit.com is not busy.org is not steempeak.com is not... etc. etc. I hope you get the picture.
I get your point but I doubt you get mine...
I’m speaking about attracting people to Steem Blockchain, not necessarily skilled on Blockchain...btw, neither steempeak nor busy or Partiko have the ability to store your private keys but steemit yes...
The best option is: as soon as you create your Steem account, make a copy of all your private keys, install a Steem wallet in your computer (as Vessel for instance) insert your private keys there and connect with the Steem Blockchain... but this that sounds so trivial to you, or I hope so, is not so trivial for newcomers even if they heard about of bitcoin...That’s the point. Do you get the picture?

I didn't leave this reply to you, I left it to @balticbadger who seemed confused as to why he could still see the account, and I could tell he was using partiko from the blurb it appended to his comment :)

Lines are always arbitrary. If people commit crimes, they must be penalized after committing it.
