RE: SALE! SALE! SALE! STEEM at 1.75$!

in #steem6 years ago

First I have to admit that even I'm thinking about buying some Steem.

Further I think that the price could drop much more. The only thing we need is some terrible news today or in the coming days. Don't you think this would be a possible scenario?

I really don't understand why people need to sell? I mean every advisor would advice only to invest if you don't need the money for a long time. So what happened with those sellers? Just bad decisions? Or.....?

You wrote there are over 1,000,000 users and everything is growing and improving. About the improving part we can probably have a long discussion, because it's subjective. But about the growing part I'm not that sure.

This clearly shows that the number of posts+ comments is decreasing as of the beginning of 2018. The peak was 280k and we're now at 150k. Almost 50% decrease and it doesn't seem over.

The number of unique monthly users is also decreasing as of January. Starting at 196k down until 151k in May. This decrease is getting close to 25%. And although June has not yet finished I am pretty sure we will end below 150k.

Now I'm really curious to know which numbers you used to argue that things are growing?

It is just a matter of time frame that you are looking at. Take a one or two year charts an you will see. By your time frame you can say same for Bitcoin, from January price and number of transactions are much lower but longer view is much different...

That is a fair point.

From each perspective we try to predict the future. Using the long term trend, the future looks bright. Using the middle (or short) tern trend the future looks less bright.

Yes. Exactly. The marginal sellers are the weak speculators. Volume has been very low since the giant move in December 2017, so it's minimal trading affecting the price now. The VWAP is almost unchanged.

People who have been buying and powering up can't react to these price movements this quickly because of the 13 week power down.

What does VWAP mean?

Volume Weighted Average Price. It's a measure of what the average market participant has paid for the issue over the time span.

So with the fall in the price of STEEM, volume of trade on the exchanges has collapsed. Yes, the price is going down, but not many people are actually buying or selling.
