Getting the right balance

One week on from my last post on curation rewards and I have been fiddling around with vote times and slowly getting the hang of the tweaking required. I am not a huge earner on my posts so I need to make up in other areas.I see this as an area that most of us can improve on and should at least have a go.

Last night I hit just over 18 SP for holding just under 4000 Sp which is an improvement on the week before. Not by much mind you as this is tricky and only grew by 10 percent from the week before.

I have looked at how I vote and the results are better than what they are in reality. I participate in the curie comment contest each week and will hand out a vote on every post I comment on. I also do Steemhunt and upvote every hunt I comment on as well as that is how I think you should operate on here.

These are not wasted votes, but being part of the community and when you are trying to beat bots who only vote on posts for curation you are basically fighting with a handicap.I think more is possible but realistically I am now happy with the returns I am getting.

If I am making nothing or very little on 20 percent of my votes and I am up there with the bots that have been programmed to reap the best possible percentages then they are not that performing that well.I think that it is lucky for us that they aren't spot on and just shows how tricky this part of earning is.

If we were on the same level playing field as the bots just voting on posts and nothing else then I honestly think 6-7 SP per 1000 would be possible. We won't be doing that unless we have an alt account solely for curation which is something I would like to look into very soon.

I am no expert at this so anyone can achieve 4 - 4.5 SP per 1000 SP on a weekly basis if you just give it a little thought and time.I had fun doing this exercise and learnt a lot and don't think I will grow much more. Consistency and keeping what you are earning will be just as tricky now.

The one thing I have realised is you need to use steemauto for some of your votes. We all have regular users we upvote and I think it is wise putting these users on auto. Many users are throwing rewards away by not using this tool, even though I understand the manual voting principle held by some.

That's an amazing return, you're still doing twice as well as I am and I've tweaked most of my timings too, I need to look at this again!

Don't tweak all of them, just do a couple at a time and monitor. You may be close already and don't know it. I checked what I was getting beforehand and literally changed 3 or so.

i guess it's a nice little post-dinner task to do, check a few every few days or so, cheers!

You'l be a dolphin soon lad. Its nice here at the top! 😜 I know this comment will motivate you to fiddle some more!

Dolphinhood beckons and the motivation is knowing you are ahead of me.

Wow, 18 sp on 4K is huge... I am really missing something here. I have improved my curation with autovoting (steemvoter) but I’m at 7 sp for roughly the same (4K)
Care to share the rough strategy you are using?

Your timings are wrong and some of the posts you follow are just not great for curation. If you vote on only a few accounts a day and they don't make high rewards you won't make anything back. There is nothing wrong with the accounts you follow either.
All I can suggest is tweaking your times I follow and vote on taraz as well and you need to drop to about 8 minutes or 9 and see the difference on steemworld for that particular vote. It shows the curation and you should be trying to at least get some of your vote value back if not all and sometimes a profit.
Look at this site https://beempy.com/curation/
Open up a post that you have voted on and copy and paste from the authors name including @ and paste after the / in the link above. This will help show you why you are receiving what you are for those posts.
I would advise dropping the times you are currently voting on and maybe a small percentage drop at the same time until you find the right number.

thanks for this, much appreciated, I checked my posts and due to the fact that I am using ocdb on most of them I give like 500% returns at some times, crazy
and Taraz only goes up to 35ish . I tweaked some votes, let's see how the result is next week.

Ok 7 SP is not very good. let me have a look at your steemworld and see where you are going wrong. Give me a couple of hours and I will try and help you.

I hate auto curation but if that work for you is awesome. :)

I haven't looked at my numbers for a couple of weeks now. I don't think they are maximized the way they could be, but I know they are better now than they were when I first started. Thanks again for all of the help.
