RE: Be Smart - Join Steemit - Be yourself on STEEM Blockchain

in #steem5 years ago

People are rarely themselves when there is a potential to earn monetary rewards, or to miss out on them, attached to who they present themselves to be. Just saying -

Hello, @lordless.exile thanks for your comment! It's a good opportunity to offer another point of you. Humans are rarely themselves just because what they are is what the situations and the need want them to be. Joe is not the same Joe when talking with his boss, his wife, his children, his mistress, his neighbor, his pub friends, etc. Joe is by default a different Joe when interacting with all other Joes, either because of culture or tradition either because social hierarchical reasons etc. Being yourself is an art for whom tries to be in the real life socialization. In the web based social media things goes different. Let's see an example: I have a friend in the other side of the globe who is married, has a child and his monthly payed salary is maximum 150 dollars (the equivalent in local currency). For these 150 dollars per month he must work up to 12 hours per day for 6 days (Sunday only day off). He must smile for up to 12 hours to everybody even to persons that basicly hates, he must say always "thank you sir" even if this "sir" spits on him... he cannot be himself if he wants to be payed in real life and economy. This friend happen to create an account here (let's say) and as he is a talented content creator, after a few months and some people he met online and helped him a bit, he finally makes some 50 dollars per month being an active member of our community. Cool isn't? He makes here the one third of what he makes working 12 hours per day in his real economy, and it's not all! The greatest advantage is that here he is himself! He is in underwear, old socks and a can of beer, in front of his laptop and he composes... No need fake smiles, dress code, being somebody else for making these precious pennies per month... At least my friend is more himself as a Steemian than as worker in some Hotel in a state with poor economy. In fact the human is himself when he/she can choose freely what and how to be, and in the real life this is very difficult to realize. Usually artists are themselves just because they are artists and their extravagant profile attracts more fans (who cannot be themselves and need the idol for covering their lack of personality or their oppressed nature) Finally in many cases being or not yourself has nothing to do with money. Let's take the example of some homosexual who lives in a country where the law condemns homosexuals to death. Obviously this person cannot be himself and this is not a question of money. Instead this homosexual might talk freely in a web based social media using a simple username, so there are more chances for him to be himself in, let's say Steemit, than in some real cafeteria outhere, and this is not involving any money or any kind of reward. If I can be always myself interacting in real life then social media is dead... As about the reward question, there is something to point: observing how people manage money and rewards, show us a very deep and real view of any character. Usually people can hide their badass side, but when it comes to money most of people cannot control reflexes that betray them. The way that somebody manages its money shows a lot and says more about his/her character. We can be ourselves in front of money only when we know that there is no way to ever have this money. If we feel we can get the money then everything change and it is either some other personality that we promote (in order to get the reward or simply the money) either some of the very bad guy we hide deep inside us. In both cases our attitude shows who we really are, to others and to ourselves...
Well, everything is relatif, there is no perfect situation but the essential is that being here, writing, replying, interacting, having fun and be rewarded wearing my pyjamas, farting and eating tuna salad is... myself, I am myself right now as I cannot be if I want to reply live in real life... Oh... Wrote too much I guess... and it's too late here... That was spontaneous Alien thoughts inspired by your comment!!! Thanks a lot!!! Have a nice and creative day. 🙏🍻

I love your energy. And, I agree with all you said. I was thinking when I wrote my message, that people tend to be someone other themselves a lot of the time.

Hello @lordless.exile thanks again for your very inspiring comment and reply!!! Thanks a lot for your nice words too!!! Energy... Well, I think it's all about passion and will... But, this is one more topic that could launch the syndrome of writing - mania in my Alien skull... I'll write something about in some next post. You see, today I'm in a mood that waste my energy, and I'm trying to control it... Thus a lot of energy wasted... Thanks always, have a nice Wednesday and great posts! 🙏🍻😀
