The snowball effect of Steem!
What is so good about Steem?
The last few months I have read numerous posts about what needs to change to Steem and it's platforms. Mostly people are nagging and complaining about whales not upvoting them, and their posts being undervalued or not noticed. Well, maybe they do have a point or two there, but my motto on that is: "If can't beat them, join them!"
Let me explain. Do I mean, you need to become a selfish whale. No, but you need to grow. And for that you need to post and/or curate good content. This is where the good quality of the Steem blockchain comes in. There are so much possibilities to earn more Steem Power, you have to use them.
I post almost every day, and I curate every single day. This gains me Steem Power every single day, that I power up immediately. Which makes me bigger, and my upvote grows bigger, so does my curation reward, and the reward of me upvoting my own post. And it brings me more followers, which once in a while upvote me too. Which again brings in more Steem Power.... See the snowball effect going on there?
Slow in the beginning, faster and faster later on...
Ok, in the beginning it goes very slowly, but after a while the curation rewards, and posting rewards grow bigger and bigger every single time. So your work gets rewarded bigger every single time, because of your higher Steem Power.
Are there whale votes needed for that? Hell no, I really enjoy being upvoted by 25 or 30 new steemians with only 15 SP. Go check them out, their page too, and see if there aren't any new talents there. If they are good, upvote them, and comment on them. Be sure, they will be grateful to you in the future too.
By this tactic, I have grown from a tiny minnow to quite a well fed minnow in less than a year. No investment, just posting. Here you can see my posting and curation rewards in SP. The rest of my Steem Power is from contests and the intrest on SP. I have even powered down a little a few months ago.

Really, go your own way, don't expect charity from the big guys. Focus on your own posts and the one you like from others. I can assure you, you will grow stronger here. Just like a snowball.

Excellent post. Simple concept, but often overlooked. Also often overlooked is the SERIOUS power of COMMENTING. A "comment" on Steemit has, in many ways, MORE potential than a proper post, because it is quicker to produce, and people are often more likely to consume the whole comment, as opposed to a longer post. The rewards are essentially the SAME, but the productive power of comments is, in my opion, greater. In addition, when your voting power gets low you can comment as much as you want while waiting for it to replenish, and in the process you are increasing your earnings.
Also, I have been noticing the "interest" on my SP increasing at a growingly welcomed pace. However, I only just noticed that my SP was earning interest. Do you have more info on the exact nature of the SP interest? Perhaps you could write a post a out this...
Well, actually I should do a post about this. Basically, Steem has an inflation rate right now of 9,5 %, which will decrease every year. Some of that extra Steem that is produced is rewarded via interest on Steem Power. I need to do some more research on this to do a correct post about it. Thanks for your nice response. And I do agree, commenting is very important, and gets you loads of interaction and attention to your blog, and of course earnings!
Yeah, I just did a search for "Steemit interest payments on SP" and SEVERAL articles came up. I'm working on this one : https://steemit.com/steemit/@preparedwombat/yes-you-do-earn-interest-on-steem-power-all-well-most-is-revealed , but you may want to read some/all of them and then figure out a new angle to complement those. I don't have the time (or priority) to write such an article right now, so if you do follow through feel free to drop the article link into the comments section of one of my posts and I will read (most likely) upvote it...

You are 100% right, most people think there is a quick way to get Steem, there isn't one, just grind grind grind, i look at steem has a sort of mmorpg, where i grinded for hours just to get a piece of an armour for my mage, i need to keep posting and power up posting and powering up, sooner or later i'll be big.
Some things people don't do is to use steemauto to always upvote x, y, z person, i have around 5 ppl that i autoupvote and get the curation reward from them, it might not seem much but at least when i'm busy and can't vote or post, which happened the last 2 months, i still get the curation reward!
People might think it's only 0.01steem per day, but those 0.01 steem powered up get an inflation and the snowball starts rolling and then you realise you have soo much Steem powered up that you can actually start taking some of your profits out!!
