What is moving #STEEM?
Today I just want to see how many of you are reading this post. This is how I will start my point on the current price of #STEEM. If you have read it this far I will be amazed and if I am lucky you will leave a message. The problem I am seeing here in steemit is that everyone want to take some profit for the less effort put in a post. I can also say the same for pictures or memes or videos or whatever is being added to the blockchain. I'm not saying that some pictures I have seen here are not good quality but some are really lacking that word. I can see how many have put some effort into getting incredible pictures that surprise us and even make us admire the skills of the photographer.
Yesterday I made a video tutorial on how to install virtualbox and get ubuntu installed on it. But to my surprise this morning I found out that audio was not correctly recorded so the video is useless.

Basically I recorded a video, uploaded and spend couple bucks getting a new mic to get better sound quality but I did not set it correctly for the recording of my desktop app. So pretty much the video is useless and I will need to re-do it.
Anyway my point is that most of the blockchain interactions are done automatically and humans are not really looking at posts or videos that might be good but instead just follow the money that comes from voting successful authors or some other stuff. In my opinion I think I have get better interactions by commenting posts and I can say some of the rewards from comments overtake the average rewards I get from posts. My very first suggestion for every new steemians or those willing to grow is to get to read posts and comment and hopefully expand your network, the bigger the network the higher chances to get engaging followers that will come and interact with you.
On the other hand once you are giving something things gets moving faster and easy like this post where I am giving @steembasicincome shares. Ultimately I'm not sure how to attract new followers that will engage in my posts and this give me a chance to get some visibility and hopefully expand my network hoping for better interactions.
To really make a good reputation I will truly suggest following the @steem-ua project and hopefully get into delegating some SP, the more users using it the better chances for everyone to improve in ranks by really trying hard and writing useful stuff that some people might find it interesting and useful. I really try to make posts on different topics and hoping to get some comments but not really happening on the topics I like the most. For example I've been working on this trading experiment that is allowing me to learn and get more information for better decisions making in the future but that seems to be a boring post for most or not really liking the topic wheres I've seen just a screenshot of a chart and maybe 10 words analysis getting hundreds of rewards.
Yesterday, I also installed VirtualBox and Ubuntu! Today, I did a little work in Ubuntu. It's a great environment for C/C++ development!

Nice done! I've been working on Linux or more than 10 years now and my favorite flavor is Debian/Ubuntu. Currently I'm using Debian 9 as my main OS.
when I write a good post with a bunch of photos, I invest a lot of time and effort to bring it to perfection, and I spend hours to translate it into English even with Google translator, and in the end I get a couple of votes, even when I pay the bit bots ... and then hands go down to make suitable content ... because on just 1 photo I get more votes...

I know the feeling and I think I just need to enjoy the process of making the post and the few interactions I get rather than the rewards from it at least for now. I hope you will find joy in sharing posts and I know the effort we all put into them but sometimes it is just not enough.

As ladyrebecca said, the level of engagement has really dropped lately, I used to get loads of comments on my posts and now I'm lucky to get one or two. I'm hoping if the steem price picks up things will go back to normal.

I understand how you feel. It's been interesting as I have tried to do some serious effort into the posts I do. Sometimes, it really pays off. Other times, it feels frustrating at the lack of response.
We'll see. I've given myself until New Year's to see if this is really worth the effort.

It takes time to - forgive the pun -build up steam.
I think #STEEM is doing fine. Even we have bots and other automated processes abusing the eco system, content curating works OK. Look at the Trending and New content, it is meaningful. Not the best quality and lots of quality content goes under radar, but at least it's OK. I personally like browsing New content to find new interesting steemians and content like you are. And also you have these awesome apps like steepshot, dtube etc. They can give you good exposure even with low SP. Main problem for minnows are HF20 and Resource Credits. If a minnow doesn't have some delegated SP they quickly run out of Resource Credits and get bad UX where they can have one or two meaningful actions per day.
You are totally right resource credits can limit the amount of interactions specially for smaller account and that will also limit their growth opportunities
The ones to blame for this are the devs, who make sure everyone is quick on voting in the first 15 minutes... and after that, it seems that the posts have the plague or something.
We need to ditch this curation thing altogether so that people start voting whatever they want, whenever they want, instead of just voting fresh posts.

Agreed! Another thing that has never been mentioned is the ability to vote (and create a next wave of rewards) for an old post. If I'm seeing a 2 months old post that I've never voted but I like it why not allow it to get some rewards after payout has been done.
@raserrano, that would be a nightmare and I think STEEM price would collapse, with such a change. But there are other ways to do that, if your really want to.
That is an interesting point of view I guess I will need to research about it a bit further
Checkout the new Steem-forever service. I haven't used it yet, but it's designed to accomplish rewarding posts that have already expired payout.
