Let's Discuss Sending Mass Memos 📝
What Are Memos?
Well memos are attached messages we can add to our transactions on Steem. They are used with bid bots, to add a note, and sometimes for messaging.
What's The Problem?
Like the image above that shows an example of using a memo, it is also an example of spam. It's a unsolicited message sent to me purely for advertisement purposes.
The problem is spam, but what is the solution? Well probably a native chat and adding communities. Until then there seems to be a lack of understanding or agreement on sentiment towards what qualifies as spam. This post stems out of a discussion I had on my last post where someone complained about me sending mass messages to my followers. I am very conservative with the frequency of this, I only do it once a month. All my followers who joined in said they didn't want me to stop and were happy I was doing this. Given I've only ever had 2 complaints since I've joined I figured it isn't much of an issue. However this person seemed to believe it was, so I'm letting the public discuss and decide. If you as a whole find that it is inherently wrong I will stop. Personally I believe if you subscribe to me, you're opting in to receive updates occasional from me. My messages are usually informational like an announcement or like a pinned bulletin message.

The Questions
Because I don't think my personal judgement is enough, I need to understand how people feel about this and why and I will stop or continue based on the discussion here.
What are your thoughts on mass memoing?
Is it strictly spam?
Are there exceptions?
Is only memoing your followers acceptable?
Are non-promotional messages still spam?
What's a reasonable amount to send in one day?

Witness Communications Assembly

Okay, this is going to be one of those points where I rant. F*** those oversized whale witness piece of sh** . They want to sit there and circle-jerk each other and thats okay. And that's just one issue. And then someone wants to bitch at you because you put a little bit of what they call worthless information on to the blockchain. f*** them. I put Out posts to help minnows and newbies in the form of games and contests, and I give away all of their rewards from them to everybody who participates. So I think the fact that they make hundreds of dollars on the trending page and then they take portions of my proceeds to help pay for those trending Pages. it pisses me off. So let's see, they use bid Bots to pull hundreds or thousands of dollars from the rewards pool, which in effect directly affects me and all of the newbies that I am trying to help, and then someone wants to b**** because somebody puts out something that takes up a little bit of blockchain data? Why the f*** with the guy even waste his time is my question. And the thing that I came up with is, well if they distract us with stupid bulls**t to fight about, well then we'll be distracted while they rape the rewards pool. I don't know just my thinking. I'm sorry to rant. But I made a promise to @doomsdaychassis then I would keep it real. So there you have it. My opinion my dear friend... keep sending your messages, it's not your fault that nobody has came up with a messenger system here. And I would say after a messenger system is designed and implemented you should probably stop as long as you're able to still transfer through that system. 😁 As always you get all my love friend!
Here is my deal. If you want to attach a couple SBD and send me a link yo hugeanaldildos.com then fuck it. It is all good. Sending the bare minimum seems very bid botish. Low effort maybe. Bribe me with more and you are welcome to spsm the fuck out if me. Steemit people are like a woman. Shower it with gifts and it eill keep putting out. Well till you marry it. Lol.

Just keep sending. If the follower does not like it , then do not send it to him or her. If it was 10 Sbd or more , I think he or she will not complain. This reminded me of a contest I once did. The price was just a few sbd and I have to send the price to 50 people. What if there were thousands of participants? Sending the price to them will make me a spammer?
Yeah I mean the script I have just sends to my followers so I figured they could unfollow if they don't want free money lol. It's good to see that everyone generally feels the same :)
What script is that? It may come in handy for me when I do my rewards, because I let everyone win. So it's a lot of transfers Sometimes.

Once a month is no problem, some people have problems then they can unfollow!

I want to say thank you for the transfer. I have followed you from just before you became a witness and am happy with the acknowledgment of support. More witnesses should acknowledge followers, is that not how they get into top 20?
Glad you feel that way :) And no actually, originally most witnesses were voted in more so based on whether or not they had the knowledge for mining (a lot of them are the same people witnessing for bitshares) and they got massive whale votes and endorsement from the freedom account which is Ned's etc. Now I'm not accusing them or saying it was wrong. It was new and it's still in beta. What matters now is how we progress. They now have a ton of votes, but again that's also largely due to the steemit.com/~witnesses page only showing the top 100 to vote for, so for the longest time, people only voted for the top 100 (which made them stay top 100) My main project is WCA or Witness Communications Assembly where we are trying to improve transparency and communications between witnesses and end users because you are right they should have been voted in by being engaged with their audience and having a good relationship with them. It's also about making it possible for new witnesses to work their way into the top because it should be more based on the people's endorsement than how much money you have invested
