The giant's head is yours

"That's why David ran and stood on the Philistine,
and took his sword,
and he took it out of the scabbard, and killed him,
and he cut off her head;
and seeing then the Philistines,
that his hero was dead, they fled.
Then the men of Israel and Judah rose up,
and they retired, and followed the Philistines,
until you reach the valley, and even the gates of Ekron;
and the wounded of the Philistines fell
on the road from Saharaim to Gat and to Ekron.
(1 Samuel 17: 51,52).

When we think of David, it comes to mind that he was a pastor, poet, giant killer, king and ancestor of Jesus; in short, one of the greatest men of the Old Testament.

But there is another relationship with this one: traitor, liar, adulterer and murderer.

The first list provides the qualities that we would all like to have; the second, those that could be real in our respect.

The Scripture makes no effort to hide David's failures, but in spite of so many ups and downs, he is still remembered and respected for his heart turned toward God.

When we learn that we share more of David's failures than his greatness, we should be curious to discover why the LORD refers to him as "man after my heart."

David, despite his weaknesses, had an unwavering faith in God's faithful and forgiving nature.

With David we learn that we are not giants, but that we are able to defeat the giant by faith, in the name of Jehovah.

David, despite being small, young and very inexperienced in life still, by faith ripped off the head of the giant Goliath, while the whole army of Israel feared Goliath.

By lifting the giant's head in his hands, David positively influences the army of God's people to fight and defeat the army of the Philistines.

The attitude of that little man before a giant, motivated the people of God to face the enemy army and win the battle.

  • What are your attitudes towards adverse situations?

  • Have you placed yourself as a man according to the heart of God, that is, have you presented yourself for the battle by the unwavering faith in God's forgiving nature?

  • Or have you listened to those who say that you are weak, small and very sinful to carry out great projects?

David was small, weak and much more sinful than many of us, but he trusted Jehovah's forgiveness, and in the name of Jehovah he took the giant's head in his hands and held it up like a trophy.

Let's learn with David, that our conquests are not based on what we are or have, but on what is our strength, JESUS!

DAVID, A VERY CRAZY SUBJECT:

"Because you see, brothers, your vocation,
that there are not many wise according to the flesh,
not many powerful ones,
nor many noblemen who are called.
But God chose the crazy things of this world
to confuse the wise;
and God chose the weak things of this world to confuse the strong;
And God chose the things of this world,
and the despicable,
and those that are not, to annihilate those that are;
So that no flesh can boast in front of him.
(1 Corinthians 1: 26,29)

"God chose the crazy things of this world to confuse the wise!"

Once I heard someone say that God should love people very much "very crazy", because they have created many of them.

  • David was one of them!

A young man still, without any military experience; a shepherd of sheep that in the empty hours made poetry wanting to defeat a giant?

A musician who dedicated a harp and sang praises to God, a simple child who still slept in the father's house wanting to beat a giant?

  • What is that? This David can only be crazy?

God chose the crazy things of this world to confuse the wise! "

  • I have seen true miracles happening in the lives of little people with David.

  • Single mothers who work hard without prostitution, and with the sweat of work they manage to pay for a school.

  • This is a crazy thing!

I am free to say that these are the crazy things that God continues to use to confuse the wise.

  • A street sweeper who sometimes has no money for the bus, finds a packet of money in the trash and returns it to the owner.

  • This is also a thing of crazy people!

To be honest, to be true in a world of darkness like this is considered to be very crazy!

Well, let's be considered crazy, but let's be crazy aware that our madness pleases God. The madness of David, gave him the head of the Goliath as a trophy on the shelf in his room.

Saying no to drugs, to prostitution, to crime are also gigantic heads of "Goliath" that he who has a heart according to the heart of God collects on the shelf of the living room.

THE ARMS OF THE GIANT:

>
"David said to the Philistine:
You come to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield;
but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts,
the God of the armies of Israel,
to whom you have affront.
Today the Lord will give you in my hand,
and I will hurt you, and I will take your head off,
and the bodies of the camp of the Philistines I will give today
to the birds of the sky and to the beasts of the earth;
and all the earth will know that there is God in Israel;
And all this congregation will know that the Lord saves,
not with sword or spear;
for Jehovah is war,
and he will deliver you into our hand.
(1 Samuel 17: 45,47).

  • The giant uses David sword, spear and shield against David.

Our enemy is launched against us, with all its weapons: sex, drugs, crime, lies, etc.

David as he was very crazy fought against the giant with a single weapon that all the crazy people should use: faith in the name of Jehovah.

Goliath to destroy his family, comes with spear, gossip, intrigue, unemployment.

David was weak, but he believes in a strong God, he was small, but he believes in a great God; let's do the same

Let's be the crazy things that God will use to defeat the wise men of this earth. Let's be the giant head collectors.

DAVID, THE INCENTIVE:

"Then the men of Israel and Judah rose up,
and they retired, and followed the Philistines,
until you reach the valley, and even the gates of Ekron;
and the wounded of the Philistines fell
on the road from Saharaim to Gat and to Ekron.
(1 Samuel 17:52)

The army of God was cowed before the giant, but seeing David lifting Goliath's head upward, he created courage the Philistines placed him to run the battle. David, by taking an attitude, inadvertently encouraged the courage of the other soldiers who immediately reacted against the enemy army. Each one of us must be in our communities an ember that from so alive, we set fire to the other coals of Jehovah. Do not wait for the leader of your community to do something; remember that King Saul was also cowed and afraid of the giant.
The present leaders surrendered to a giant called money, and from these leaders we can only hope, except for the wrath and envy of them when you come up holding the giant's head in the name of Jehovah.

Dear brother, I conclude by saying, when Jesus expired on the cross, the Scripture says that the veil of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. Symbolically, this veil separated the Holy God from the sinful people.

This place could only be visited once a year, the day of the Atonement, when the high priest offered sacrifices to obtain the forgiveness of the sins of all the people.

When Jesus died, the veil broke to indicate that the atoning death of Jesus opened the way to approach our Holy God.

Brethren, we need no more than a priest intercede for us before our God. We ourselves in the name of Jesus Christ can acquire the faith necessary to collect the heads of giants.

The religious structures that men invented to separate us from God are not surrendered. Do not look at King Saul, look at the example of little David and win the giant in the name of Jehovah

Hi @tnrb!

David was extreme in his behavior not only because he killed the giant, but because he understood the position he had in Christ. He at his short years of age understood that it was God who was with him at all times and that there was nothing greater, so in 1ºSamuel 17: 37 he declares: "The same LORD who rescued me from the clutches of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!"

Interesting publication Sister!

Maybe we are not going to meet a giant of 3 meters and 20 centimeters in stature NEVER in life, but every day we face other giants that look like that height. These giants have the most diverse names: discouragement, sadness, declared enemies, economic scarcity, illness, there are as many "Goliaths" as people in this world and what they do is provoke us, frighten us, leave us without defense.

Great message! Thanks for sharing. The giants should not intimidate the children of God.

It was an exciting event to move from the fear of celebration to the courage of young David. Good post
