RE: Sugar Zeffers - The Shoe Made From SUGAR with a negative carbon footprint!
Eco friendly plastic is good, but the end product is still plastic and will take as long as normal plastic to deteriorate. The only difference is that carbon dioxide is locked up in the process and thus make it a negative carbon footprint
hmm i think that depends on the "bioplastic" in question @dandesign86
It’s of course better than normal plastic no doubt, but many people Read eco plastic and they think it doesn’t have any harm on the environment if it is discarded by throwing it in the environment. Only very few is biodegradable, and if it is it, it usually can only be degraded in very hot climates where the right kind of bacteria can discard it.
i think the bigger issue is our disposabe mindsets. If folks wore one pair of sandals for 10 years before they replaced them with the "latest and greatest" it wouldnt matter as much what it was made of.
Consumers are to blame but I hold companies to a higher standards pushing consumerism and forced obsolescence :D
Our disposable mindset is definitely a big problem, almost everything in our home has to be updated so quickly, even out furniture. Back when my grandparents where young and got married they got a lot of old furniture that had been in the family for a long time and that was still in very good condition- then IKEA came along haha jk
I think I understand better now
