Who knew! What a crazy time we live in that we can replace plastic with materials which are so much less harsh on our environment!
This company has developed a Sugarcane based sole called "SweetFoam" which is completely carbon NEGATIVE! Yep Pretty cool right?
"The SweetFoam physically draws from sugarcanes from dense and wet fields in the South of Brazil. Drenched in rain, the fields are treated using very little fertilizer to aid its growth to be further processed in facilities that run completely on renewable energy. This makes the SweetFoam material the world's first ever carbon negative EVA polymer." -source
To me, they look INCREDIBLY comfortable and squishy too, would love to see how to these feel!

some power tips for the next hunt.. .
danka danka!
Great, recyclable shows. We should make basically everything rcyclable. We have so much waste going on around the world it would be the right thing to do.
agreed @flauwy ! The recycling is a huge aspect, but the sustainability of HOW these things are made in the first place and finding new methods that don't tax our planet is going to be just as important as well- thanks for your comment!
Eco friendly plastic is good, but the end product is still plastic and will take as long as normal plastic to deteriorate. The only difference is that carbon dioxide is locked up in the process and thus make it a negative carbon footprint
hmm i think that depends on the "bioplastic" in question @dandesign86
It’s of course better than normal plastic no doubt, but many people Read eco plastic and they think it doesn’t have any harm on the environment if it is discarded by throwing it in the environment. Only very few is biodegradable, and if it is it, it usually can only be degraded in very hot climates where the right kind of bacteria can discard it.
i think the bigger issue is our disposabe mindsets. If folks wore one pair of sandals for 10 years before they replaced them with the "latest and greatest" it wouldnt matter as much what it was made of.
Consumers are to blame but I hold companies to a higher standards pushing consumerism and forced obsolescence :D
Our disposable mindset is definitely a big problem, almost everything in our home has to be updated so quickly, even out furniture. Back when my grandparents where young and got married they got a lot of old furniture that had been in the family for a long time and that was still in very good condition- then IKEA came along haha jk
I think I understand better now
It's amazing @dayleeo.
Incredible as things are changing in the world, I hope that large industries within the scope adopt and promote this type of material. I love these types of products. Great hunting..!
absolutely @pialejoana ! Who would have thought sugarcane could be made into a shoe!- The more successful companies like this are, the more big brands will start to change their ways!
Nice hunt @dayleeo. This is really cool. These kind of innovations are needed to fight human consumerism, and waste. I wish they could make it from sugarcane fibre after juice has been extracted.
hmm i like that idea @karamyog !
Slippers made from Sugarcane? What a nice way to incorporate agriculture into the plastic industry. I'm sure this will enhance the durability of the slippers.
EPIC HUNT!
wow thanks @hornblende ! appreciate that!
Great hunt!! Is it mad of sugar? Can I eat when I'm really hungry? :) I thinkit could be very helpful to save the earth. It's so nice product! Many of people will like it. Thank you for sharing exellent product!!
haha thank you! probably best not to eat it, wouldnt want you putting your foot in your mouth ;) @dmoons.kim
Wow.. How crazy and weird! True? Yes, there are women's flip flops, allowing her to free her toes and leaving her lighter and lighter. Interesting, it is a sole material patented with sugar cane, I never thought there was such a thing but every day I learn that everything can be possible, so ... No, nothing is impossible.
I can not deny that curiosity is killing me to know how it feels ... because they are made of sustainable and ecological materials, contributing to the environment. hehe..
nothing is impossible! :D
Great hunt @dayleeo this is an excellent idea. This will teach our future generation to recycle and not just throw waste such as plastic. I support for go green product!
It is a very cool product. It makes of sugar which is very nice material. It also has a negative carbon footprint which is good for the environment. But I am wondering if it will be broken easily.
they look pretty flexible and supportive in the video- but you'd have to see them in person to know for sure i bet :) @alex3883
