1. Our Strategies for the Recession

We are going through one of toughest bear markets at the moment. Steemit inc. decided to layoff 70% of its staff in a cost restructuring move. SMT may be delayed more, or a simplified version may initially be released. Uncertainty is trying to overtake our logic and strategy - we must overcome it to deliver the right product.

Today, we want to share our main focuses, so we can overcome the uncertainty and achieve our goal of creating a place where geeky passion becomes capita.

1-1. Enhance the Fundamentality before HUNT Token release

Even though this bear market may postpone our token listing plan, it also creates the perfect moment for us to work on the system improvement so that we can present the HUNT platform in its best form. These are the main tasks under this category (some of these are already running):

  1. Relative percentile user score metrics
  2. Creation of the token staking motivations (connecting the token balances to the user score, leveling bounty amounts based on the user score)
  3. Chart quality improvement (community-based moderation, influencer program)
  4. Abusing detection/prevention

1-2. Prepare Reviewhunt to Launch at the Right Time

HUNT is an incentivising community platform for product influencers to enable their knowledge and passion to be transferred as an asset for makers/companies.

Regardless of the delays, or spec changes in the initial SMT release, we have initiated the Reviewhunt project. Reviewhunt won’t be a plain bounty marketing review factory. It will adopt proof-of-brain for gamified review competitions, which can maximise the benefits for companies using bounty suggestions. We are trying to build the beta version so that it can be ready to launch when the market rebounds. Please stay tuned for the upcoming teasers for Reviewhunt project.

1-3. Revenue Pipelines

HUNT platform is trying to create an interchangeable ecosystem between companies
and early-adopters (hunters). In other words, we will build a token flow that can be both earned and used in our platform.

Under this ecosystem, we will have the following business models:

1_ HUNT-SBD/Fiat Conversion
Even though we can list HUNT token on exchange markets, many companies are not able to use them because of the lack of accounting standards. So, an in-built SBD/fiat-based conversion feature is highly important for them.

2_ Bounty Offering
When companies nominate their bounty rewards in Reviewhunt, we will take commission in return for our interface usage.

3_ NFT (Non-Fungible Token) trades
Ideahunt will utilise NFT transactions so that makers can run the crowdfunding in a way the maximises the pre-market hype. We will provide NFT trading features.

2. Converting SBD Rewards to HUNT Tokens

HUNT token has no crowd sale, instead 50% of the tokens are being distributed as bounties. This is because the most important KSF (Key Successful Factor) of the HUNT platform is to gather as many product influencers as possible and amplify our community activities, rather than raising funds via crowd sales.

One issue with this plan is that there is no feasible standard price when we list HUNT token in an exchange (in general, the crowd sale price becomes its listing price). As one of the methods that can give a reference price, we will add a new feature that enables hunters to choose to convert his/her SBD-based hunter rewards to HUNT tokens. More details will be announced next week.

3. Weekly Sponsor Rewards

Here are the week’s STEEM rewards and HUNT tokens reserved for sponsors (the STEEM rewards have already been sent to sponsors from @steemhunt.pay). 90,000 HUNT tokens per day are reserved for the sponsors, which amounts to 630,000 tokens per week.

          Great update. Your revenue plan is sound (and I say this as a retired business consultant). I'm glad to see you able to successfully keep moving forward despite the extended downturn in the market. I only hope the functionality available to you for SMTs is minimally adequate for your needs.

            Well I think one of your strongest items is:

            When companies nominate their bounty rewards in Reviewhunt, we will take commission in return for our interface usage.

            That's your standard Business Development in terms of partnerships that can bring in those bounty programs/companies. Or sales if you don't want to take the BD route. Either way your team is strongest, it's a winning revenue model.

                Great idea with the SBD/Hunt conversion option. Since many people talking about self sustainable Dapps here on Steem like Steemmonsters...I wonder if you guys also think about external revenue streams to implement like Ads or Sponsor links?

                  Thanks so much for your opinion. You may be interested these points in terms of the revenue stream.

                  1. Steemhunt will be remained as a PURE COMMUNITY platform that can be differentiated to Producthunt.com.
                  2. We will create the revenue models from Reviewhunt and Ideahunt mostly, as well as our own SBD/Fiat swap payment solution (as I've addressed in the article).
                  3. Not all dapps are able to follow the Steemmonster model that gives the initial biz model. Especially the platform business requires huge traffics first, then can utilise the traffics for their revenues. It will be highly risky if the platform suddenly add advert or some biz model that disturbs user experiences.
