Did You Know That I Am a Bot?

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

Did you know that I am a bot? No??? - Well, neither did I!!!
I'm also wondering who might be those members who managed to classified me so wrong. Are they just classifying other members randomly and without thinking or even less checking? Are they trying to depreciate others genuine efforts or also maybe trying to disqualify some reputable members that way?

OMG, I am a BotOwn derivative work with photo from Pixabay. Credits to TheDigitalArtist for robot, used under the CC0 Creative Commons license.

Why I'm saying this and where is the problem?

The other day when I was posting my last post, I noticed that the "Classification" button next to my name (one of the many features of the @steem-plus extension/tool which, btw, otherwise I like very much) is showing a "Pending" status. When I clicked on it, I was unpleasantly surprised when I noticed that I or my account has been classified over 50% as a Bot and even over 10% as a Spammer, while only 36% as Human.

I was thinking how this might be possible. The only thing that crossed my mind why some members may feel that I am a bot is the comment template that I use as one of @DropAhead Team's curators when curating posts.

Although the whole team is doing the curation manually, we decided to use that unified comment template, among some other reasons, for recognition and informing purposes. The comment I'm talking about looks something like that...

DropAhead Comment Template - screenshot

This comment is also some kind of notification by which all the members who use DropAhead Team service are informed that their post is going to be resteemed and featured on one of our next DropAhead Daily Reports.

But, if that's the reason why we could be classified as bots, it would indeed be a shame! If nothing else, because every single DropAhead curator is doing that (not easy and quite time-consuming) curation work on a daily basis and entirely voluntarily.

We are manually going through every single post that is promoted through DropAhead Discord channels, and through our upvotes investing our own Steem Power to help many members to grow and gain visibility, without any guarantee we would even receive the smallest "Thank you!" (not to mention anything else) for the work that we are doing.

For the percentage part by which I am classified even as a spammer, I'm really speechless. Anyone who knows me just a bit (and I am here for almost full 2 years by now) would know how firmly I am against every kind of spam or any other type of abuse. And in that sense, this appears to be utterly ridiculous. Therefore, I can only assume it must be the work of some trolls and their means of harming. Pathetic!

Otherwise, regarding @steem-plus extension/tool I have only positive words (except maybe that Floating Post's Voting Bar that on busy.org and with Chrome doesn't float at all on my end).

All the other @steem-plus features (and there are lots of them) are beneficial to me in many ways for my daily Steemit usage. In this regard, I would even like to recommend it to you if you didn't test it by now. You will be amazed how much useful info this extension/tool might bring at your fingertip disposal.

Last but not least, I have to emphasize that the classification results of my account don't have anything to do with @steem-plus and its creators. It's a work of some Steemit members who don't understand this feature or have been misused it for some personal interests.

Therefore, I would encourage you to use any such feature wisely, fair and with care, the way you would like them to be used by others when the judgment of your work or account is in question.

Quite a good combination

I'm just laughing on it! How long have you been a bot? :)))
Well, i'm almost a spammer :)))
Don't take it seriously, the classification bot is very far from perfect. There is more to do with its algoritm. Supposedly, short words and repetitions are also make us to be a "spammer".
On the other hand, steem-plus is a great tool, i recommend it to every steemians!

LOL - You really pulled out the right question! - I don't know, in fact, so I'm wondering now too - for how long...??? 🤔

And regarding your account classification, yeah right 😂 you are quite a spammer, almost as much as I am a bot. Therefore, I'm sure you understand this.

Anyways, I don't think the short words or anything like that is in question, as this classification is not made by some bot. The classification is done by members who are using steem-plus. Each member can vote for other members and select from those three available options what he/she thinks the particular account is (human, bot or spammer). That's why the whole thing is even more ridiculous and awkward to me.

However, thank you for the comment and for stopping by! 🙂

Hihihihi, you are a bot :D hilarious :D I have a vivid imagination and I can see you already as a little metal being :D :D :D Why were you keeping this a secret from me? LOL

hahahaha - It seems like I was kipping that as a secret even in front of myself. - LOL - 😂😂😂
And frankly speaking, when I saw it, plenty of crazy ideas and pictures went through my mind too. 😎

You should've told us that you are a bot! I am very disappointed @ana-maria haha :P

Your every post tells that you're real 100%, so keep doing great job!

Cheers!

Oh come on, Luka, don't you see that I reported it as soon as I find out! 😉😎

Seriously now...
I knew you would understand it, and thanks for the support and understanding, my dear country-fellow! 🙂

This classification definitely sucks!
I am blogging abut cat and supposed to be
61% human (ha, got ya)
20.3% Spammer
18% bot
which is bad luck because all my votes are done automatic. So it should be 50% or more! The posts and comments are "real" :-)

Edit: It changed now! it says 99% Human now
but 48/26/26 for the bot.
That's much better.
Looks like there is "work in progress" or this classification depends on less than 10 voices and one is a troll using 5 accounts, voting you down....
Usercount here on steemit is somewhat strange. Most of my friends having more than 5 accunts. And I do not know how many using steemplus and classify others.

I think it doesn't matter how your votes have been done, as the classification is not made by another bot. This classification is done manually by members who decide upon which of available 3 option they are going to classify other members and their accounts.
If you are using the steem-plus tool you may try it by yourself by classifying somebody else.

Sure, I did! And when click on the lable everybody has the option to chose from the options. I marked you "human" (and my bot, bot as well). Everbody can do.
I have no idea if they check it manually or rely on the user and may really do automatic.

They rely on users. Maybe the data (users votes) are collected automatically, but the votes itself are given by members manually - that's for sure.

Votet you "human" on 5 accounts :-)
dont know how often they update the database. Will check tomorrow if it helps. Guess all others here also do!
But I guess you are right: You have a real "hater" using a shitload of accounts!
(please help give my "bot" @flowbot its real identity! It does not really feel good being "human")

Thank you very much for your kindness! 🙂
It seems like it worked as it seems I became a bit more Human and a bit less the Bot. 😉🙂

P.S.
And yeah, I also did your @flowbot acc. the classification as you requested. You'll see if it improves or not.

Oh the indignity! A bot indeed! Humph!

Hahaha, Hi ana-maria bot :D Lol, I am kidding

Maybe it's because of your many identical Upvoted on behalf of the dropahead Curation Team! comments. Nothing wrong with posting identical comments, but some bots might take it as a cue that you are a bot, which is kind of ironic.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was describing in the above post that my guess is.

But regarding the other part of your comment, I think you've got it wrong as there is not in question some bot or bots action that would do this classification. Quite in contrary!
The thing is that this classification is done manually by members. Every Steemit member who uses this tool can make his/her own choice upon own impression of other member's account and vote. What makes the whole thing even more awkward.
If only bots (who are always limited) are in question, I probably wouldn't even bother to write this post.
