And Now, a Break from your Regularly Scheduled Program...

Before I get started, I will address the picture I used for this post. Quite frankly, the picture has nothing to do with anything except one of my daughters loves mermaids so I thought I would use a mermaid picture in honor of her love for mermaids. If you came to my blog hoping to read the next installment of my short story, "The Hunt" --don't worry, I will post it either later today or early tomorrow.

I just wanted to take a short moment to say thank you to all the wonderful people I have met here on Steemit. So,

THANK YOU!

I started my journey here on Steemit nearly six months ago. When I first arrived, there were many people who reached out to me and said hello. In the early part of my journey, a couple of whales dropped by and splashed huge votes on me—this was especially nice because it helped me see the potential of Steemit. In the beginning, I struggled to find my niche. I posted lots of things about several of my interests including bees, gardening, herbal healing, and even a few short stories. I soon found my true interest and began to post short stories on a regular basis. As I did, many of you stepped up and encouraged me with kind and thoughtful comments. Thank you.

Because so many people helped me along the early part of my journey, I quickly realized I wanted to help other people as well. This is one of my favorite things about Steemit—it is a community where we can help other people reach their goals while at the same time achieving our own. Unlike many business propositions, the opportunities are endless and all it takes is a bit of hard work and a willingness to stick to your plan. So I began to look for ways to connect with other people and boost them as they tried to create a niche for themselves here on Steemit. There are way too many of you to mention, but to all of you, thanks for your amazing posts. I love reading about your interests.

My biggest piece of advice to any newcomer who might be reading this is the old adage, “seek first to understand, then to be understood” as taught by Stephen Covey in his book the 7 Habits. If you are here on Steemit trying to get everyone to notice you by running around dropping senseless comments on other people’s posts and then asking them to resteem and follow you, let me tell you, you are doing it wrong. So, my advice is this, look around, read some posts, look at some lovely pictures, find some things you like here on Steemit. Once you have found something you like upvote the post. That is how we show appreciation here on Steemit. Then make a comment, if you have something to add. Consider following the author because if you liked one thing the posted, there is a chance you will like their future posts. Do this over and over. Enjoy the journey. As you thoughtfully upvote other people’s posts, you will find that other people begin to come and read your posts. So with this small piece of advice, I say to you, "May your Steemit journey take you beyond the stars and into your wildest dreams."

As we approach the New Year, I want to wish you and your loved ones a Happy New Year—may it be full of joy and happiness. Most especially may it be filled with peace and love.

An Assassin's Tool? I will definitely consider it. Thank you!

Awesome, I hope you enjoy the book.

Thanks @bigpanda for sharing your thoughts and hopes to new people on steemit.

You are one of the few I check each day to get some sense here in this mysterious world, I love your stories, keep it up and happy new year.

That makes me happy. Thanks @steveuk.

Thank you for all the great stories you post. You give me something to do when I'm bored at work haha. But you also give me something to aspire to. Have a happy new year!

Thanks @maremccheese that makes me really happy. It makes me feel like some kind of futuristic magic machine or superhero--"hello, I am the Boredom Smasher." Maybe when I get home tonight I will introduce myself as such to my kids and insist they call me that.

I'm still stumbling around on Steemit, so many interests just like you. This was a fun short post and something I started doing before work took all my time.

I only recently started making videos again, but had forgotten how to post them on Dtube, until a kind Steemien helped me this morning. So I offer a HUGE thank you, to all that help the rest of us out. It is much appreciated.

Peace, love, and happiness to you in the New Year @bigpanda.

Followed you greenhouse! Happy Monday!

I think that is one of the beautiful things about Steemit--there are so many people who are willing to help. Thanks for your kind wishes.

Thanks for all the posts @bigpanda! I write Irish fiction, and it's good to see fellow authors thriving on Steemit! Followed you!
Happy 2018!

I hope you enjoy it @joshuaattat. I'd love to hear your thoughts when you are done.

Advance Happy New Year @bigpanda. Thanks for that wonderful advice. Steem on!

Steem on! and Thank You.

No biggie, I just remembered that you are one of the person who upvoted my introduction post and am so glad that you are so kind. Thanks:)

I have been reading your story and of course I'm eager to learn what he is going to learn from the old woman, but, I just had to stop to comment.

I had decided not to comment until I've read most of your story, as experience has shown me that I tend to say things I think are relevant, but because I did not wait (usually for just one more episode) I've ended up looking like a smartass.

However, you made this post, and I read it and thought to myself, 'how thoughtful of him' and then decided I should tell you, so:

how thoughtful of you.

I'm like one of those ghosts who come howling through the tiny crack in the window pane, on those nights you've eaten too much and can't sleep. It is a conspiracy, to ensure you get up and go write...

Maybe we can exchange a few comments about the joys of writing and your obvious talent at that time, after he has reached the top of Owl Mountain.

Thank you very much for your kind words @arthur.grafo. I would love to chat anytime.

Such a nice post.....Merry christmas and Happy New Year in advance, wishing you and your family the very best. Thank you very much for upvoting my stuff on introduceyourself do feel free to follow

Thanks pandygirl. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well.

I'm two months in & I still don't understand why food recipes are so popular here

I don't really have a great answer, but I do love a good recipe. Not that you are looking, but @gringalicious has some pretty amazing food posts. What sort of things do you enjoy reading about here on Steemit?
