It is certainly a huge benefit for your own blog if you invest time enjoying other people's work, and take the time to leave a thoughtful comment relevant to the post content.
Communities also help, and the more you are "visible" on various discords and engage with people regularly the greater the chance they will look out for your latest work.
That's exactly what I noticed from my small experience here on steemit participating in community activities or just interacting with others can make you more visible, thank you for your comment and the resteem!
