That's right. We now have an alternative to YouTube for video content. DTube has tighter integration with Steemit, displaying reward information and connecting your account to your Steemit ID. DTube videos cannot be embedded in your Steemit post however. At least not yet!

Imagine if someone took the Steemit concept and tweaked it to support communities, messaging, and multiple currencies right from the start. Add a very ambitious and transparent roadmap, as well as very straightforward, dummy-proof usability, and we have a crypto community project best not ignored.
This is sure to become healthy competition for Steemit, and perhaps inform developers of the most urgent features required. Currently the SCRYPTO ICO is ongoing, so there may be investment opportunity there for the investors among you. Everyone else can sign up and get involved already. The community is still tiny, so you might be able to "landgrab" and establish yourself, or your community.

Decent
DECENT is described as "a Decentralized Content Distribution Platform that is Open-Source and utilizes Blockchain to ensure security." Intended for creative people such as authors, bloggers, publicists etc, it allows "borderless publishing" of any text, picture, video or music content. It is likely to grow into a social community, alongside the multimedia features. The Decent App was finally launched at the end of June this year, after much anticipation.
LBRY
More competition for YouTube, and not unlike DECENT, with LBRY one can buy, sell, or share digital media such as music and videos. Early adapters get free LBRY credits. LBRY aims to become "Netflix for the blockchain generation."

Exciting times. Im sure the corporate social media companies are quaking in their boots. Like waiting for a bus i have been waiting for micro payment social media for ages and now many come along at once.Steemit will have to move fast to hold its crown

Thanks I had no idea what Scrypto was. What about Synereo? And to a lesser extent BAT (Basic Attention Token and Brave).
Honestly I haven't spent enough time looking at them to write about them but I'll be sure to check them out.
Cool, yeah BAT seems really interesting to me and it was started by the founder of Javascript and Mozilla.
I think BAT is a really good option if you want to invest for the long term. Its project is very interesting and as you say, having the founder of Javascript and Mozilla at the team is an awesome fact.
