Steemit dev blog announced ads will be coming on Steemit app https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemitblog/testing-ads-on-steemit-com

This was a long time coming event that should of been implemented long time ago to protect Steemitinc from brutal bear market. A little too late IMO because the traffic we used to have is mostly gone, the ads will generate way less than they could of generated before, due to bear market the traffic on Steemit is mostly gone. However, the ads will help at least a little to continue the development of Steem blockchain. This will not change anyone's experience while using Steemit, you can use adblock and it will be the same as before.

You can also use other Steem based social network blogging apps like busy, steeve, partiko, esteem, all those other apps don't use ads atm, but they all use Steem. That is the power of this blockhain, if you hate ads, just use some other application. Turns out Steem is pretty awesome.

At least the ads are not shown to logged-in users.

That's great for every steemit user.

It would have been nice if they announced support for JSE. I was hoping we'd find a way to go beyond ads, but here they are, back again.

Steemit inc. ways are very very very slow. I don't really pay too much attention to this because my Adbp is always on.

It’s a shame more thought was not put into it sooner. With an option for creators to choose to enable and get a cut or disable. If I’m driving traffic to my posts and those people do not have an account to upvote my content it does me no good unless I have other monetization means. As far as them driving up the price of the Steem though development well there a reason so many other dapps and stuff is having to be done by the user base. People tend to not really mind stuff when they have an options.

Rarely humans think far into the future thinking about any possible outcome where their business is heading, steemit inc didn't predict they will have to cut 70% of their staff, the times right now are rough and this is one solution that will help them in the long run. This beta sign is forever screaming at us, things will change for everyone for sure.

yeah, it's kind of half assed like usual... like you say, most people are gone, and many don't use steemit ... and people looking to decentralize don't like f*cking ads anyways.

Adblock is the answer for everyone who hates ads, there are also people who don't mind ads, so nobody will get hurt here really.
