RE: An alternative way for earning Steem Power Delegation

in #steemit6 years ago

A question about the sp delegation: Where/who is the delegation coming from, and how long does it last?

I might also try and catch up with you at some point about an advertising idea I've had for quite a while. Problem is, I know absolutely nothing about the advertising industry.. ;)

Sort:
  • When an advertiser pays it goes to @steemhost01 and powered up.

  • Each time a view or click is made, a record is created which keeps track of the activity

  • Once you earn sufficient steem to trigger the delegation (minimum of 1 steem) @steemhost01 will delegate the amount that you have earned both from your hosting earnings + your own visitor earning.

  • While I had entertained the idea to check to see the last activity by a steemian (eg un-delegate if they hadn't posted in over a year), it is actually to everyone's benefit it it is never brought back into the steem environment. Since delegation is like a sponge for steem ... it takes it off the market - there will be upward pressure on the price of steem.

Message me anytime about the advertising thing - I have set up a discord channel https://discord.gg/EN8d7DG

Cheers. I'll pop you a message eventually (it might take me a few days to a few weeks. I'm pretty random at the moment.

The only concern about the delegation thing is that it can be revoked at any point. So the host loses that SP. Of course, the host will gain in increased rewards while using that SP, so it wouldn't be a total loss if it was revoked. But I guess there's always that question mark.

Unfortunately there isn't a way around that part. One aspect of the advertising is that I do not set the price that people can ask external advertisers. Let me give you an example

If you're measuring cost per click (CPC) Facebook advertising costs on average about $0.27 per click. Source

That is about 0.12 steem per click. If you focus specifically on local businesses and have as collaborators a number of local steemians. You could charge $54 (roughly 24 steem) per 200 clicks. However you do not need to pay 0.12 per click. You could be generous and pay 0.03 per click keeping 0.09 per click. (The current advertisers are paying 0.01 per click.) As the host selling the advertising you would keep $45 of the $54 of the initial cost of advertising.

In other words hosts who do the work and solicit advertising can keep the majority of the advertising revenue despite the delegation.
