Judgment Day on Steemit

The first time I saw this image was in the 'cn' group.

Being new on Steemit, I had no idea what this was and ignored it. Then in the last 2 days, I started seeing other posts on the Steemit platform regarding @ned delegating power to 7 people back in August 8th. All this is new to me as I was totally unaware of all this happening when I came into Steemit on August 16th. Of course, the 7 people named @htliao, @linuslee0216, @nicolemoker, @surpassinggoogle, @sweetsssj @tumutanzi and @ramengirl are known by all Steemians even a newcomer like me because their posts are always on the trending pages almost everyday.

Yesterday I saw a post written by @paulag laying out all the data and charts for us to see.

Wow, that is a lot of work in gathering the data for us to see things in one flash. Thank you for putting in the full day's work to put out the presentation. I hope @ned will come out to explain the data for us because most of us do not know how to interpret these figures or charts objectively. Data does not lie. They are cold, harsh and unforgiving, therefore guidance is needed from @ned to interpret the charts.

To tell you the truth, my heart sank when I saw the figures and charts.

I was disheartened because human nature is revealed in its most cruel way in figure forms. Suddenly some of the questions in my mind were answered in one flash by looking at these data. But data isn't everything because behind the data, a lot of things go on that people do not know and this is where human communication becomes very important, thus this post to respond to the recent big drama on Steemit.

I came onto Steemit on August 16th, so I can share a little bit about my experience with the above 7 mentioned names.

I do not know @surpassinggoogle at all but kudos to @surpassinggoogle for setting such a good example before us on Steemit.

As for the other 6 members, at different times 2 of them have initiated to reach out to me, but most time, I reached out to the others to read their posts to get to know them. I mean, there are hundreds of newcomers everyday, so how will they find me in a pile of pin stack if I did not get involved with their blog posts.

I do not know why @ned chose 5 Chinese people and because I am Chinese, I am automatically drawn to this cn group when I came in. So in that sense the cn community is thankful to @ned for his support to our community.

My Understanding of Steemit Engagement

When I came into Steemit, my understanding is that 'engagement' is encouraged to bring value to the platform, thus there are 3 ways for us to engage with each other. Read the post and upvote the post if you like the post. Comment to engage with the author. Resteem to share more with other steemians.

From the above 7 people, I want to say that both @tumutanzi and @sweetsssj did reach out to me in engagement not only by upvoting but commenting. I am very grateful to them because they gave me the support I needed as I was the new kid in town nobody knew.

@sweetsssj did further as she took the initiative to share with me great tips of how she blogs and how I can blog better for my travel blog. Both of us have similar passion, especially in this past while, I have been to Dubai and Turkey where she has been blogging about, so the special bond occurred immediately. The first encounter with her was on the Steemit chatroom where she gave me a lot of guidance. Of course, I was all ears to listen to a Steemit veteran. Chatroom communication is behind the scene of these cold data shown.

Regarding other posts where people are saying that she sells votes, I am too new to understand what all this means. Actually she never upvoted me after she spent time reviewing a few of my blog posts. I never asked her to upvote me either. I also blog about other things like music and contest challenge, so I never sent those posts for her to review. Only once in a while, when I was struggling with travel blog posts, I would direct her to read one or two as time went on. She would tell me about how some photos needed adjustment etc. It is not just me that she mentors, from time to time I saw her commenting on other Steemian posts that they needed to turn their images right side up and she would not upvote them just because they asked her to upvote. I believe her spirit is to get Steemit bloggers to blog in an outstanding way, just like her travel blog and we all want to reach to that standard.

And one day, when @sweetsssj saw that my post reached a standard, she upvoted me. I never asked for it. She never asked me for money. So when I saw that she was giving me great support which I was very thankful for, in the past week, I started sending SBD to her, totally on my own initiative for her to buy lunch or dinner for the time she puts into reading my posts, reviewing and giving me comments and suggestions. People see cold data but this is what is happening behind those memo data. Let's face it. There is no free lunch in this world. When people give their time and energy to help you without pay, you need to think of ways to return to them for the help they give you.

Regarding @htliao Delegating SP to @justyy

I do not know @htliao at all as we never got connected. Only in this past week I got to know @justyy via his blog post, but not personally. So the memo data shown regarding @htliao and @justyy is really at the mercy of 'cold data' interpretation. Why? You will find the same kind of memo data exchange on my dashboard because when I saw that @justyy doing a great project for the Steemians, I decided to take part in this delegation. Though I am such a small minnow, I delegated 1/3 of my SP to support him this past Monday. I have never done this before but I think the spirit of Steemit is that we don't 'hoard' everything to ourselves. Give whatever little you have to contribute to other people's project to the community. I now have very low SP and SBD but it is OK.

Open Sharing and Communication

I think open sharing is very important when we read these charts and data. These 7 people were on the chopping board in the last 2 days and it has been difficult. Steemit is a new community that many of us embrace because it is a platform we can truly spend time to bring value to our readers in all topics. I hope the 7 people will post or comment and say something so that we can move forward together. We have our limitations, weaknesses, flaws and not perfect but we can correct our mistakes, turn our weaknesses into strength and expand our horizon together.

I hvnt seen those data and details , after reading your post I think I don't even need look for those, thnx for reducing future stress ☺

Yes, I am sure it has been very difficult in the last 2 days. I read those data late last night for 3 hours until 2 am and could not sleep at all. It just shows how much we all love this Steemit platform.

Hello, it’s nice to read your post and hear about you sharing your own experience. Are you from Hong Kong? I may have overlooked your post as there were so many posts in a day. It’s a bit weird to see Hong Kong people using simplified Chinese haha.

Ha ha... my hubby translated my English blogs for me. I used simplified chinese because I think the cn group is from China. I am probably wrong. Yes, I am from HK but did my studies abroad, therefore writing English is much easier for me. Is the cn group from up North or HK? I haven't a clue.

Oh I see. Cool, I was just wondering. There are many HK people writing bilingual posts and you may interact with more peopl to integrate into the community. The CN Group stands for the whole China, of course.

Does the whole of China include Taiwan? As you know of course, Taiwanese people write in Traditional Chinese but my experience is that most posts are in Simplified Chinese (probably because of the bigger audience group), but it would be nice to have both versions.

Yes of course, there are many posts made by Taiwanese people there, and the Hong Kong people are also using Traditional Chinese.

I know that most people will want to write in Simplified Chinese for the mainland audience. But the Chinese language is so much more elegant and enriching to read in its Traditional form. I hope that people will post in both languages, not just to help promote the spread of knowledge to all the Chinese audience but to also try and spread the message of unity and peace between Chinese people.

Thank you for this post and for the link back.

My post yesterday was on the data, not my personal feelings, and I will be doing a detailed post on that later.

To keep it quick, who in the world does not want to make a better life for them selves. These people that were given the delegations showed nothing by entrepreneurial spirit. I don't see what the problem is around their actions and use of the power.

I don't know @ned at all. Can you ask him to say something as he is the one who delegated and undelegated and why out of 7, 5 are from the cn group. Is there a purpose behind all this?

I would say it was because of the work they were doing. The CN population is huge and I believe that Steemit could help many people there. Maybe Ned seen this too and that is why the delegation was given. I don't know @ned to ask the question.
