You Will Eventually Get Tired of Steemit

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

I know what made you click this blog. I just stated the title like I am very sure of how you will end up tragically in this platform –- frustrated and dead tired. Maybe, some of you are already uttering such statement to yourselves all over again. I am tired. No one notices me. I’m out. Maybe Steemit isn’t just for me.

You Will Eventually Get Tired of Steemit.png

Believe me, I was once like that. Tired. Exhausted. Drained. That feeling of sacrificing all of your brain cells in one post just to get a cent of payout after seven days. That feeling of choosing to write an article instead of doing your usual recreational things – watching movies, playing online games, stalking your crush, and in return for what? A zero-dollar pending payout? Nah, such a waste of time.

When I entered this platform, I was so driven that it felt like I could post all-day through converting all my ideas into words. But eventually, I ran out of words to say and ran out of ideas to express because every time I would create a draft, I become too conscious whether it might get the taste of my fellow Steemians or not. You feel me?

Guess what I found out? Well, isn’t it obvious? Steemit does not only revolve around me. Steemit is a SOCIAL media platform wherein creative contents serve as the blood while users’ interaction serves as the force that keeps this blood circulating the system.

Let me emphasize that once again:

Steemit is a SOCIAL media platform.

You can’t just show up, post an article, wait for an upvote, and then call it a day. Merely posting links on different discord channels will not make you stay either. Imagine the hundreds and thousands of links that are being posted daily. Expecting to be discovered in those pool of links is just a waste of time, believe me for they are also there to promote their posts, why bother clicking yours?

What must be the secret then?

Engage and interact with others as well. Reach out to them and let your contents be discovered for this has always been an unwritten law of reciprocation in this platform. How will they know that you exist if you won’t let yourself be recognized? Tell the whole Steemit community that you are there. And as much as possible, try to make sure that your contents are also worth the click.

This does not necessarily mean constantly pecking a Steemian friend to comment and upvote your post. Sending SBDs with love notes asking for upvotes will not work either, except if you are paying for a bot. Just try to do the natural way. Read other blogs, leave sensible comments, and strike that upvote button if you find it exceptional.

Your posts’ pending payout does not define your value.

I have already brought several people in this platform. In fact, most of them are great content creators, but only a few stayed. Busy schedule? It could be. But I’m pretty sure, most of them got discouraged after experiencing some drastic price depreciation of the payout rewards.

I was saddened and dismayed by the fact that most of them did not endure the tough phase of creating quality contents consistently regardless of the rewards that they may get. It felt like the fault was partly mine since I used to emphasize the monetary rewards more than the intrinsic rewards this platform could give.

Until I realized that no matter how good writer you are, you will eventually burn out if you fail to look at the intrinsic rewards. Steemit itself has a lot more to offer in a deeper sense, way more than the monetary rewards. In this platform, strong camaraderie and promising communities are being built.

You, yes you.

I know there are times wherein your whole being is just damn tired of creating contents valuable to the community. Days of hiatus will turn into weeks, and weeks will turn into months. And before you knew it, the momentum and the drive to push through had completely left your system. I know how it exactly feels for I’m still experiencing such mood from time to time, but that shouldn’t be the reason for you to call your Steemit journey off.

If you get past the phase of craving for some huge earnings, you will eventually care less about how much your posts have earned, and care more about the relationships that you have built in this platform.

Engage with your audience, discover other gems, and engage with the community. Most importantly, always leave a mark.

This, this open letter is addressed not only to my fellow Steemians, but most especially, to myself. Even at this moment, I am experiencing writing anxieties but I always find myself here because I believe if you learn to love the people and the Steemit platform itself, you will always find yourself coming back.

I am warning you, you will eventually get tired of Steemit, and you fail to engage, you will never thrive.

Funny! Some were already tired here because they run out of ideas while here I am, tired of starting out! hahaha... I was one of your invites from last year but perhaps I was so "busy" (pronounced as "lazy"), I haven't posted not even one article. Anyway, I will, soon... soon... :)

I am with you every thing you expressed so well. But still there is something what makes me unhappy about steemit, even with my yesterdays 1000 followers. It is that all our creative work and communication serves a huge capitalist pyramid. Nothing really new on earth!

Yeah, basically because this is what Steemit is designed for. It requires authenticity through Proof of Brain, but it won't work properly without proper communication.

Thank you so much for your honest opinion @johano, I really appreciate it a lot :D

I am not sure if you got my point of view. Do you think proper communication will change the whole think? As long as I have seen this platform, nothing really has changed concerning more equality here in spite of tremendous effort from people who understand a lot of blockchain technology.

Very well said. It is easy to fall into "post it up and hope for vote" syndrome as many of us are busy. But it is the key to being social.Being social is the key on this platform and in the physical realm. Lovely post. I found you from the original works contest about effect AI and it lead me here.

Thank you so much for visiting @dmilliz! I strongly agree with you, it goes the same with the real world, life gets lonely if we fail to interact :D

Hey, congrats for winning in that contest as well :D See you around ;)

Thanks for the lovely post.
I need to work on my socializing on and off the internet, its easy to fall back into the cave LOl.
Take care:)

I agree hahahah sometimes, it feels better to be alone XD thank you @dmilliz, take care :)

well said dai!

Thanks ate, as always <3

Very good. I agree that it can wear you down and STEEM is only what you make of it.

I got past the disappointing rewards and now I get frustrated with the lack of progress or direction on the platform. We could collectively be so much more if we all worked in the spirit of the way this place was designed.

I agree, as we stay longer in this platform, we realize few things with the hopes that everyone will realize the same. :)

Very well said.

At first I was really frustrated because I only earn small amount from my Photos I made. But then again I did not mind earning small rewards. I know that rewards will follow as long as you have a great content.

But I also noticed that there are posts that deserved more than they earn, some earned $10 with a few words and did not even join a Community. That person did not even join our Discord chat (Yep almost every server I joined, I never seen his/her name. He/she just posted random post without engaging to the community.

It is really sad and unfair for posts who deserve more.

Yeah chuck, I feel you. It may sound a bit unfair but there may be chances like he has already proven himself to the platform that no matter what he posts, it will still get an upvote.

Nevertheless, we just have to continue doing our thing ;) Good things happen to those who persevere :D

well said.. I felt the same too, writing a post is not easy as it seems but the more we interact with other Steemians the less we care about ourselves. We are here to learn aside from monetary gains, the connection and friendship formed thru this platform is priceless. If I'll be carried away with the disappointment, I'll lose the chance to get better in writing, with financial ideas like most of your posts. This is not something we can find on the internet. This is based on experiences and valuable lessons earned aahahah woah my comment is too long, i hope you'll not get tired of reading comments as well wahahaha.

Woah you just mentioned the important things that I should have included in this post hahahah
Indeed, that's what separates us from google. Our contents are based mostly on our personal knowledge and experiences, which makes them more authentic and more realistic.

Actually, you are one of the people that came to my mind while writing this post. Your engagement in this community is highly admirable and ofc, I will never be tired reading your sincere contents and comments :D

Hopefully, magkakita ta puhon sa personal ate :D I would love to talk to you in person :D

lagi.. hopefully sooonn.. would love to see you too:) ingon ni Paul you're a humble person and I couldn't agree more..hihihih keep on steeming, you're helping a lot with your post:) I told my officemate @thebravesoul to read your post. She love financial blogs as well.

looking forward to meet you sa next meetups pud. yaay kani gyud si paul hahahaha

Thank you so much @orhem! I feel so honored gyud <3 Ah ou nakabantay pud ko niya sa imong resteems :D

I can feel you smae as I felt it to myself as well.. I experienced the days that my brain is no longer functioning due to information overload. As manifestation of losing my drive to write and killing my interest to express my thoughts. What ignites my passion to continue making blogs even my writing skills is considered as intermediate level. There are things that through my writing where I also earned. I was able to help some people at the end of the day. If no one appreciates your work your number one fan is yourself.

Wow I love it!

If no one appreciates your work your number one fan is yourself.

Indeed, we should be the number fan of ourselves. Honestly, I really admire you for being so active in this community jez :D You never fail to uplift others :)

Thanks smae I think I'm in love with writing.. it improves me a lot since I started my first post. You're also one of the aspiring writer here in this platform..

I admire your ability to influence people through your financial expertise.. GOD BLESS US ALL..

Wow 💛

Hello @yellowmajesty! How's your Steemit journey so far? :D

I'm doing good. Thank you 💛💛💛

Indeed! I've been into that scenario but I realized what's the true purpose on this platform.

Indeed, we will eventually realize the essence of this platform as we go along further :) Thanks for dropping by @steembytes!
