A long letter about what I think about V people/hispanic comunity in Steemit.

Sometimes, I need to let out a bit of what's going on inside my head. And no, I'm not talking about the little insecurities that haunt me in lone nights, I'm talking about what I actually think about my community, and steemit in general terms, taking a short permit to make a wakeup call about a topic that keeps them stucked in the same spot all the time: conformism.

First of all, I respect every single opinion about the platform and how people want to use it, since every user has the right to give to their account/VP the usage they want. Decentralization means that everything is freer, but I like to believe that there are some moral limits of common sense applied to steemit that we all respect, and more importantly, that there is some kind of law in steemit, delivered by witnesses and groups devoted to make people understand them (like the proper tag usage, plagiarism, etc.) But, what happen when a big account (big because of delegations and making a trail) does not accomplishes what It was (supposedly) made for?

See, since I joined steemit, I had to learn by myself. The first thing the guy that joined me in told me about it was “You can win a lot of money, especially if you use this tags!” So, I made my introduction, and I had the luck to be voted (luck, according to him, I had no idea what we’re happening.) When I had the money in my account, I really got to understand what it was all about, but I felt in a game that mostly of the new people tend to sadly play: I wanted to make content for the ones who voted me. And you may think: hey! But they buy what you do! What’s the problem?
yeeah… they were “paying me” for doing this, but… I still didn’t knew about steemit that much. I spent months under the shadow of that community, being voted only by them (and the lovely @anomadsoul) and yeah… I was a conformist, just like many people from my country. Just like many people from my community.

It’s not a secret that the V country is pretty much screwed up. I won’t mention all the problems, like everybody else does. That’s not the mission of this letter. What I really want to do is open your eyes to this problem (in case you didn’t) and let you taste a bit of what’s going on.

Inflation made the USD$ worth a lot more of what it should, so a few steems or a few SBD are a lot here. I know how your whole life can change for good being in this platform (I’m really grateful for that. I say it all the time) BUT, this only condition the stage of a manipulation scenario that I sadly had to live, and a lot of people live too, right now.
It’s amazing how a few words in a chat when you’re alone, and how a few SBD’s can change your life living here. But, if this community were supposed to reward great content (being voted by them meant quality content) then WHY. Why voting anything with a low VP (extremely low) and then voting themselves with the maximum percentage? Why not rewarding good content the way they deserve to be rewarded? Is it because they are from this V country, and you know they will conform themselves with that? Or is it because this is a business for you, disguised as a “helping the Hispanic community” project?

Ignorance… I may say.

I began to see patterns that I usually see in my reality. shitty patterns. Figths, broken friendships, power struggles, flattery… the pieces are moved in a shakespeare play, for the sake of the business. Many people were kicked when they tried to make things right, and now, outside of the bubble and after making my steemit homework, I can say clear and loud: YOU’RE WRONG.

I don’t know if you, English readers/speakers, know, but a lot of Hispanic speakers are staying behind the shade of this big voter, not exploring all of the tools and benefits steemit can bring to them. I believe that there is no secret about it, since I asked a few times about that community and all I got were bad opinions. That community doesn’t teach about the whole steemit universe; instead of that, they only… well… vote people, and keep them under their control, making things for them, flattering them and their proyect, and what really concerns me the most: Never talking about steemit itself. how many projects, how many resources and how many people I were able to know in that time, instead of closing myself to that community? I think every Hispanic steemian should ask that themselves.

But, here we have a bigger problem: How “veteran” Steemian sells steemit to the V people.

Well… something like the magic solution to your misery, the key to earn some bucks… what a shame.

What happens when you they do that? A lot of shitposting, a lot of bad content, a lot of begging for votes, a lot of bag tag usage… things that let the V country bad in front of the rest of the community. a stigma that happens a lot in real life, and that I can say caused a lot of the things that are happening right now. And of course, things that mess up the beauty of this platform.

Please, don’t bring the real life issues to steemit. Thank you.

I gladly found out that Steemit is more than a way to earn a couple dollars. I found friends in underrated creators, amazing artists, extremely smart young people that make me think we somehow have a future as humanity, professionals that trust in this platform, truly humanistic people. I learnt and keep learning a lot about this (it’s a whole universe out there, and I still have a lot to understand) And I’m really excited about what I found and all the cool artistic projects I’m aiming to participate in (like @slothicorn, for example.) each one of them leads to learn more about the crypto world, and It’s a shame that mostly of the Hispanic people retain themselves to only one community, when becoming bilingual opens more fantastic doors in steemit (and maybe other platforms.) Just think about it. Do you seriously think that only that big account can support your content?.

I’m glad to tell you that I’m making some friends get into steemit (being something like… an ambassador?) extremely talented artists, that really deserve to be rewarded trusting in steemit like I did. I go to design fairs and events, and I talk about steemit as much as I could. And yes, I talk about how you can earn money with this, BUT… I always end that sentence with: “…It’s not as easy as it sounds.” I don’t want to drag people here disarmed, so I explain as much as I could about all the basics, and then aim them to explore more about steemit, even before they get their keys. And I’m glad to say that I have a lot of good students, heh… Even the band (rockabilly-psychobilly-swing) are agreed to let me help them with steemit, wanting to give the proper credit to the platform.

I think aiming them to make good content is a good first step, instead of portraying this as a solution to all their economic problems.

V people conformism needs to stop.

A reflection that reaches me a lot, especially after what happened. Even though things are not working quite well, I have hope in Steem, in fact, one of the things that I like most about Steem is that it depends on the people who make community, I guess we have to unite and build better Spanish-speaking communities. And contribute to improve those that already exist despite the difficulties.

You are doing a terrific job with CELF <3 actually, I would like your proyect to get more VP. It's a serious yet organized truly hispanic artistic proyect, and I hope u keep going that way.

Either you or someone who valued your post shared this post on Pimp Your Post Thursday in the Steemit Ramble discord. Looking forward to you visiting us again.
