A Fun Way to Get Around Town - City Bike
New York City is very crowded, to the point that getting around is becoming a challenge. For many of us, like me, subway is out of question. I am claustrophobic, it is too crowded, I can't breathe there. There are buses of course, very comfortable, but the traffic is really bad, it takes forever to travel a few blocks. There are taxis everywhere, but it's getting too expensive to use them daily. The solutions is walking. I personally walk a lot, when there is a case of walking distance. But sometimes you must travel a little further, so here comes the City Bike!
Faster than walking, cheap and fun. You buy a pass, either a day pass or annual memberships. You pick up a bike from a station, any station. There are hundreds of stations all over Manhattan, Queens, Bronx and Jersey City.
Midtown Manhattan stations. There are plenty, almost on every couple of blocks.
This is a Jersey City station, right at the Journal Square Path Train.
This is a small bike station at Boulevard East in West New York. You can get a bike ride on the boulevard, to watch Manhattan views, great idea!
Unlock a bike an experience NYC on a different level, you will love it! When you finish your ride, you return the bike at any station, slide it in an empty dock and lock it back in.
I hope you like this idea, I certainly do. It is good for our health, it is good for environment and it certainly improves the quality of life here, in New York and New Jersey.

Oooh... we have this Beijing, there are two big corporations that operates them. Yellow bikes are called OFO ( note "oFo" looks like a bike) and the orange bikes is called Mobike. When they first launched 2 years ago, we had free passes for like 2 months. Now they cost 1 chinese yuan each ride. =)

I love the "City Bike" idea! One of the downsides of living in the boonies like we do now, is that biking isn't usually practical, but when I was a kid (living in a smallish neighborhood), biking was the "go to" way to go! Reminds me of Mackinaw Island here in Michigan- NO vehicles allowed! Only bikes, horses and carriages.
They actually filmed that Christopher Reeves movie (Somewhere In Time) on that island and had to get permission to use cars on the island for the movie.
That's cool. I wish they use bikes in the Caribbean too. Those islands roads are so narrow and locals are crazy for huge cars and vans, they spend fortunes importing them. Anyway, I like the City Bike initiative in NYC. Thank you so much for stopping by @goldendawne
Yes these are so popular see people riding them all over all the time, such a great idea, both good exercise and good for the environment.
The first shot is on 47th Street just near one of the Entrances to Grand Central is it not, I enter the station there most days on the way home.

We have a similar bike system in Brisbane (Australia) but nowhere near this many bicycles. There are many 5-10 MAX at each bike "stop"around the city.
Definitely a great idea to getting around faster though
