Steemit Sandwich Contest Week #47 - The Elvis lookalike
The King of Rock was not only famous for his music and gyrating hips, but also was the founder of a Weird Sandwich known as the Elvis.
A Banana, Peanut Butter and Bacon toasted sandwich was his absolute favourite. This sandwich in turn was the inspiration behind another weird sandwich made by the Colorado Mining Company in Denver, called Fool's Gold Loaf - a hollowed out loaf of bread filled with a jar of creamy Peanut Butter, a jar of Grape Jam and a pound of Bacon! Legend had it that Elvis and his mates flew there on his private jet, ordered 22 of these sandwiches and spent two hours eating this with Perrier Champagne before flying back to Graceland!
Little did Elvis know that one day in the 21st century another rocker known as @jaybird was going to invent a Steemit Sandwich Contest and for SSC Week #47 have a theme Weird Sandwiches with something called Whaleshares as a prize, sponsored by a lovely lady called @kotturinn.
So I present to you my Elvis lookalike - must be an imposter - a light and spongy sugary glazed Cinnamon Bun, filled with Peanut Butter, Apricot Jam and topped with crispy fried Bacon.
Ingredients:
- Cinnamon Bun
- Creamy Peanut Butter
- Homemade Apricot Jam
- Back Bacon
Pipe Peanut Butter and Jam in circles on bun.
Top with crispy fried back Bacon - I sneaked in a little Maple Syrup before tucking in :)
Decorate with Peanut Butter piped stars
Elvis would be rocking & rolling after one of these :)

Normally I catch your posts right before bed and that means I either go to sleep hungry from seeing your food creations or I end up in the kitchen before I go to sleep. Today, that is not the case, since I fell asleep early last night, but your Elvis look a like has me now heading for the kitchen for breakfast , and I'm good with that. It was good, I even threw on a slice of cheese and fried up some potatoes. Elvis might not have liked it, but he didn't have to eat it, I did and it hit the spot.

I love the sweet and savory combo here, although I have never tried bacon with anything other than burgers or eggs, this looks crazy, good job!

Hi @andrina, I've had banana & bacon before and liked it, but it's the first time I'm having bacon & peanut butter with jam, was very different!
Wow! I can feel my cholesterol climbing...not o mention my spare tire is inflating around my middle! LOL

Haha @whattheduck, this was way too much for one tummy, had to share it but hubby was forbidden from touching it...all that sugar would slay him with one shot - he's a type one diabetic, wicked of me hey!!!
