Don't want to be too negative about this:

the vaguer and more passive the word you tag onto 'sociology', the higher the search returns

Isn't that how most people perceive, use and conduct sociology?
To me it seems a very tough project because you would need yuuuge sample sizes to control for noise and variables.
Therefore it is very convenient to be extremely vague...
