I think @thedamus slipped up !!!!!

Yes people of steemit it is true and I have the proof right here ! I purchased a few Canadian half dollars from Mr D awhile back ! Here is a link to that https://steemit.com/steemsilvergold/@mikegpo/mail-call-from-thedamus-yahooo , he sent a dm shortly after appologizing for not putting extras in the package !!!! (I know right) He gave me a wicked good deal on the coins , so I was not expecting anything extra . These beauties came in the post late last week !

Now I am going to pause the photos for a second (yes there is more) . We are going to look at the silver content of some of these beauties ! Lets start with the 1967 quarter . In 1967, a new reverse was used in celebration of the centennial of confederation; rising silver prices forced mint authorities to convert to .500 fine silver (KM 68a) in the middle of the year.
The recorded mintage for this coin was 48,855,500 (80% ) plus 71,464,000 (50%). In order to tell them apart you must do a specific gravity test ! The coin specifics are 5.83 g, .80% silver , 23.8 mm in diameter 50% , 5.83 grams , and 23.8 mm in diameter ! The 10 cent from 1967 has a similar tale ! The coin weighs 2.33 g and is 18.034 mm in diameter . The mintage on the dimes are 50% silver, 50% copper (30.6M) 80% silver, 20% copper (32.3M) for a total of over 62 million coins ! Most melters and bullion buyers call the 67 quarters and dimes 60 % and pay accordingly ! The 1962s however are 80% silver

The reason however that I think Big D has lost his marbles is the precious work of art he (surely) mistakenly taped the coins to !!!!! This is surely a minimalist piece of art by his son Leon !!!!! He did write a note on the back tho !!!

That old Canadian silver looks beautiful!

I have never laid eyes on a prettier dime than that 62 !!!!

Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold

A perfect explanation about the mess that RCM did as it changed the purity of some, but not all, of its circulating coins in 1967. So, those of you that stack Canadian $.25 and $.10 beware!

The price of silver soon drove it out of all coins back in those days !

Ah silversaver thank you !

Awesome set of coins , sir!

I was quite happy to receive them sbs !

That's the problem with the '67 coins, but often they're cheaper because of the uncertainty of the content. But at a good coin shop, they'll be tested and priced right, but at a flea market, sometimes they're just priced as 50% coins, and you can get a great deal like that.

Either way, I always loved the Centennial sound, and used to save them since I was a kid from my change. I have quite a few 67 pennies and nickles I've pulled from my change and kept for ever. Now I keep the painted quarters, and commemoratives.

I remember my parents back in the day having a quart sealer full of 67 change !! Even back then the sound mezmorized me !!!! Congrats on your @willsparks88 raffle win !!!!

Thanks Mike! I'm super stoked at the win...

My dad taught me early, which coins were silver and which change to keep. I'm glad he did!

Damus rules 👊 Beautiful coinage bro!

Vessel my friend thank you kindly !!!
