The Steem Sister Show - Episode 23 // TV Shows!

in #steemsistershow6 years ago

Welcome to the 23rd episode of the Steem Sister Show!

Your hosts are @coruscate and @maryjaney. We are two sisters using the Steem blockchain to chat about our life experiences and provide a little entertainment value to the Steemit Community.

Topic of this Episode – TV Shows@

This ended up being such a fun episode for us! Because this was such a fun and lighthearted topic, we were able to rapid fire shoot through quite a few more questions than usual! It was funny to see some of the similarities and differences we have in our TV shows.

Here are the questions covered this week:

  • Do you have a TV show crush?

  • What is a show that you didn’t like any more, but you kept watching because you were already so deep in and you had to keep going?

  • Audience question from @oxygen02 – Are there ways to protect children from violent programing?

  • What TV show can you watch over and over and never get old?

  • What was your favorite TV show as a kid?

  • Did you ever watch cartoons as a kid?

  • What is the best TV show you have ever watched?

  • Audience question from @cheekah – How would you compare the TV shows growing up to the ones we had now? Which would you prefer if you had a choice?

  • Who has been an influential TV character that you love to watch?

  • What TV shows are you currently binging?

  • What is a show that you thought sucked at first, and then you got addicted?

What is the Steem Sister Show All About?

We aim to bring more “non-crypto” related content to the Steem Blockchain. Although there is nothing wrong with this kind of content (@corsucate even posts on crypto related material sometimes) – we want to help create a better onboarding experience for new users. We talk a lot about attracting new users to the platform – but if the trending page is filled with crypto posts and flagging wars, they are likely to lose interest quickly.

We hope that by creating content that is more similar to what they are used to seeing on other social media sites – they will feel more excited about being here and creating content of their own!

How Does It Work?

We pick a different topic every episode, and then throw totally random questions about that topic in a hat and go back and forth. We always have a mix of our own questions and some audience questions. Our rule is that we cannot tell each other our answers before filming! So you guys are getting our raw, unfiltered reactions here.

Every episode we announce the next week’s topic so people can submit questions.

Want to win some SBD??

If we chose to answer your question in the next show… we will send you 2 SBD! Now that’s some easy money.

Next Week’s Topic : Money Hacks!

In next week's episode - we will be chatting all money saving hacks. Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm a HUGE personal finance nerd and thrifty AF. Mary just bought a house and is looking for ways to save money too - so I think this will end up being a really fun episode!

If you would like the possibility of winning 2 SBD - please submit your questions! Anything on the topic of money saving hacks is fair game.

PLUS... if you have your own money saving hack you'd like to share - feel free to leave that below! We'd love to get as many great ideas together as possible to discuss on our show next week.

Listener questions always end up being the best ones - so thank you in advance to everyone who submits one!

That’s a Wrap!

We hope you enjoyed watching this episode on TV shows! If you can't tell - we certainly had a good time!

If you have any thoughts or questions that came up from this episode – feel free to shoot them in the comments below.

With Love,

Money hack Q: What are your strategies for saving money when it comes to cable/Netflix/streaming services?

OMG BRIAN!!! This might be the most epic response ever to a Steem Sister show episode! hahaha

Also - thanks for the awesome money hack question!!

Nawwww you guys! Great episode... although I'm missing the couch already, will it be back? It just seems so much comfyierer.

I'd say The Office is probably my favourite show ever, I loved the BBC version, and was so so so highly against the American version for like 5 years... and would rage whenever it was on... but one day I was too lazy to change the channel, and loved it. I actually watched it in secret for ages, and then brought my partner in and she loved it just as much... I think I've watched all 9 seasons like 4 or 5 times. Parks and Rec comes in 2nd, then Community, Happy Endings and 30 Rock. For serious shows The Walking Dead beats everything for me... and then like The Flash, Supergirl, etc, they're fun and way lighter.

Sooooo... money hacks hey?
Money hacks and/or thoughts on tipping?

I really struggle with it personally, I'm still confused with who I should tip and who I shouldn't... and I'm so bad at doing maths on a full stomach. Dinner at a restaurant costs about the same between Portland and Melbourne... but then you add 20% on top in Portland... but the service is incredible... but... in some places you get interrupted so many times. I dunno, I don't want to sound like a scrooge at all, it's just very different.

Anyways, amazing show, I've been working crazy hours and night shifts so it's lovely having you two on in the background, just saying things that are fun.

haha for now the couch is out of the picture. (literally) I'm pretty excited about my new space - but who knows, i'll probably change things up again at some point!

Glad to hear you are on the parks and rec train! haha I also really like the office. I havn't watched it in ages - I might be due for a little binge. ;)

GREAT question on tipping!! I think this is such a great topic to discuss. Both Mary and i have worked in jobs where we earned tips before, so this will definitely be an interesting conversation to have on the show!

Crazy to hear that you've been working nightshifts. Glad we could help make it a little brighter. <3

You guys are just tearing it up on here, and making this place so much more diverse and fun for everyone. Opens up a lot of possibilities. Great job. Love the questions, and you're both so carefree. Super cute.

aww thank you my friend!! It has actually been such a cool experiece to run this show with my sister. We've actually learned a lot about each other in the process and are seeing each other WAY more than we used to. <3

Great show! My question goes thus;

Do you think cutting down on your utility bills, prepare meals yourself, wait for drop in price, pay more in cash than inserting your card in the machine every time you purchase goods is the best way to save money?

Mostly, i prefer to buy food than to prepare it myself because i believe the cost of preparing meal at home is higher than when i get it from the eatery. For instance 500 Naira can get me a plate of rice and 1 bottle of coca cola but if I'm to prepare the rice at home, i will spend up to 1500 Naira. Much love @coruscate and @maryjaney. SteemSisterShow the best.👍

Thanks for the awesome question @oxygen02!! We can always count on you to share your thoughts and come up with great questions! :)

Your show inspired me a lot......keep it up

Great content...really liked it...

Good news for you! A new season of Orange is the New Black will air soon. I have the same with this series, it's kinda crappy, but I'll probably watch the new season again from start to finish :)

My question for next weeks ep:
If I am not mistaking, you both have a boyfriend/fiance. How do you guys deal with finances between you and your significant other?

E.g., are your spending habits similar, do you give similar value to one dollar, do you use shared bank accounts, how do you deal with differences in income in relation to shared expenses. I guess you get the idea of my question :)

Looking forward to the next episode and studio setup! Keep up the good work!
