Yes, life on earth would not exist without the energy from the sun. For starters, there would be no photosynthesis, then everything would freeze up. Without plants, animals would become cannibals and die off. So yeah, we owe our life to the sun.
I agree with @churchboy, other than that some sources mention that if someone exposed to sunlight for approximately 6 hours each day, the individual will be fresh in the evening.
