Thank you. There are people around me doing amazing things and I figure I'd better start participating of that.
Amid this horrible crisis, I have seen some of my university students, young men and women who do not even have a stable job, donating time and talent to poor kids, to the sick and destitute; telling them stories, playing with kids, it is just incredible.
A lot can be done to at least try to make a difference.
I hope to join some of those initiatives soon and post about them.

I see the news every day about what's happening in Venezuela. I am very sorry, I hope you will solve your situation.
Unfortunately, in this historical period the governments of the whole world are going through a dark period... even in Italy we are not happy with the current government.

Yes, it seems we are doomed globally. I said to myself I needed to learn more about italian politics, especially considerng that Italy is the only big player (not associated with russian and chinesepolitics) that keeps supporting Maduro. My guess is they must have some business to protect, but I have no idea what kind of government Mattarella is conducting.

Mattarella has little to do with it.
Politicians who are putting Italy in crisis are the "Lega" and the "Movimento 5 Stelle" that are governing Italy together.
The head of the League is the Minister Matteo Salvini, the head of the other party is Luigi di Maio.
They are two coalitions of populists who are making closure choices, they are blocking investments. Italy, because of them, is entering a recession.
They are both in government but Lega supports Maduro, while Movimento 5 Stelle supports Guaido.
They wage war to get votes and they do not care about the nation!

Mattarella does not have the decision-making powers of the parties that are in government.
Mattarella is a competent person who tries to keep the Italians together, and to make politicians think about the values that the nation must have.
An intelligent person, whom I respect.
His brother was killed by the mafia many years ago, and he is fighting to eliminate it.

I see. Now I understand. I read a bit about Mattarella, read about his brother and his possition about organized crime. That puzzled me, it did not make sense that someone like him would oppose to get rid of criminals like the ones who govern Venezuela (they are worse than the Mafia, at least the mafiosos do not pretend to be something else).
Let's hope Italy finds its way back to prosperity and political balance.
Thanks for the clarification

Thank you, I hope you will solve your problems too.
I have always wanted to visit Venezuela, you deserve a peaceful future!
