The Rendezvous @ "The Curve" - Koh Phayam : Phayam's only sports bar
I don't normally frequent sports bars in Thailand because they tend to focus on sports that are broadcast at times that are convenient to drinking (makes sense right?) but on this occasion the NCAA basketball final had a team that is the closest university to where I went to high school and I needed to watch. Seeing as how I was on a remote island, I didn't think I was going to get my wish.

I noticed the 3 tv screen and this is normally a fairly good indicator that they do some sporty stuff in there. We decided to go in because given the fact that most of the establishments on this island appear to barely have electricity, I didn't think we really were going to have many other options. We ended up being the only customers for the 2 hours or so that we were there.
They have an extensive menu that is focusing mostly on western dishes and this was fine with me because it was exactly what I wanted at this point. We ordered the nachos and to be honest we really weren't expecting much and it is a good thing that our attitude was prepared for disappointment because the nachos really weren't anything special at all.
I'm not gonna complain because we did finish them all and even though they were missing a lot of stuff that I enjoy on my nachos I am far from civilization on the other side of the planet from Mexico - therefore, they were about as good as you can expect.
The staff here are extremely friendly and they gladly put on the basketball game for me. I was impressed because it actually took them a while to find it because college basketball isn't exactly all the rage in Thailand.
Koh Phayam is not a big island so it wont be terribly difficult to find this place. It is located on the main road up from the pier just before "the curve" that leads up the big hill to all the bungalows.
The prices are fair and the people are friendly. They also combat the intense humidity by having a ton of fans blowing in every direction. Overall, I would rate this place as an establishment that is definitely worth going to, especially if there is some sort of sporting event on that you would like to see. I had a great time and the bill had 3 appetizers and I think 8 beers (there were 2 of us, don't judge me) for under 800 Baht (around $24.)

And is it this fake cheese on the nachos?
Daaaaaamn that is the SADDEST plate of nachos I have ever seen! lol - but yes, at the end of the day, food is food and if it fills the hole.... Also, when you are warmly received at a place, it seems senseless to spoil that and leave people feeling hurt over something which is pretty trivial at the end of the day.
You have however, left me drooling now as I am trying to do intermittent fasting and will only eat in about 3 hours and now all I can think about is nachos! hahaha :)
yeah, the nachos were less than stellar. However the quesadilla that we had looked so good that I neglected to take a photo. PPL will just have to take my word on that. :)

Around $24? My my! What what can I say, any place serving cool stuff as well as allowing me acess to sporting events is really amazing and I don't think 8 bottles of beer are that much really I think drinks and time flies together when you're having fun.
That place seems like good enough to spend some time watching sports and having beer, That's great that it has good atmosphere as it might take you away from the usual humidity you were facing in that place.

Those are some pretty disappointing nachos. It looks more like a snack I would make for myself when I get home late from work at night. The finals didn't start until around 9 PM for me which is late for a Monday night when I have to be up early the next day and ready for school. I wasn't really interested in it anyway since MSU and Gonzaga got knocked out. MSU is the team I always cheer for. Gonzaga is who I had winning my bracket. Pretty much a bust all around!
